Kit Ellis

In 1994, I began a MUSH. It started simply, on TooMUSH and burgeoned into something utterly unexected: a full-fledged X-MUSH. I began it simply because I wanted to RP my favorite X-Man, Rogue, and I dragged first Sarah into it, and then Russ paged and said he didn't know what I was doing, but he wanted in on it, and a couple of weeks later we had Classic X running.

Kit came into existance about two weeks after that. I'd been online over a year at that point, but she's the face and name that virtually everyone online knows me by. It's appropriate, in a way, since Kit initially was intended to be me -- just Marvel Comics style.

There have been a lot of variations on the Kit theme since then. Three or four of them have become full-fledged characters; the rest are subsets, mirror universes which are almost, but not quite, the same as the originals.

The original Kit was just a woman. Not a mutant, not powerful in any way, just a survivor. She is in most ways the closest to me, although her life was very different from my own. According to a personality test I took for her, she's a thinker, rather than a feeler, which is the major difference between she and I, and it makes for interesting choices in her life.

Possibly my favorite Kit is the Age of Apocalypse Kit. Marvel's 4-month maxiseries was one of the coolest things to come out of comics this decade (wow, we're close to not being able to say that anymore) and we took the Age of Apocalypse and ran with it. This Kit is absolutely batshit crazy. Human, like the original, but her life was such that she became a self-trained vigilante.

The rarest of my two dozen or so varations on Kit were the mutant Kits. Kit's strength as a character was always that she was -normal- amongst mutants, but I did have a couple of tangental what-ifs . . . .

The last of the Kits leaves the Marvel universe in favor of the Highlander universe. She started out an eighteenth century French revolutionary, but then I saw the movie Dangerous Beauty and that all changed . . . .
