nibs & nobs

I am hugely relieved to have put the short story off until the end of the month. I’ve got almost 10K written on it, but it’s just not gelling yet, and there’s a long way to go before it’s done. I’ve printed it out and will be poking at the manuscript for the next few days, but in the meantime I’ve also begun the sixth Walker Papers novel*, tentatively titled RATTLESNAKE DANCES and henceforth referred to as RD. 1200 words done, 108,800 to go. :) (Except this is just the proposal stage, so I’ll only be doing about 10K.)

Ted made red beans & rice for dinner last night. Red beans & rice is possibly one of the finest foods known to man. We had Mom & Dad over, and stuffed ourselves silly, and followed it up with apple crumble. An *entirely* delightful evening. Om nom nom.

I’ve noticed Facebook & Twitter cut down on my impulse to blog longer stuff, even when I deliberately don’t post things there so I’ll have something to write about on the blog. Sadly by the time I get to the blog, I’ve forgotten what they were, or it’s about health care, politics or the economy, and I lack the will.

This is pretty cool: Beluga whale saves diver (hat-tip to Andra for the link!)

*Sixth Walker Papers, not fifth. The fifth, DEMON HUNTS, is done and due out in June 2010. The fourth, WALKING DEAD, is due out next month. People keep getting confused about this, so I thought I’d clarify. :)

August thinks to do:
– proposal for Walker Papers #6
– finish “Hot Time in the Old Town Tonight”
– an essay or two for the Chance GN
– getting together all the materials for that GN
– sekrit project proposal
– Mia script/proposal
– visit Belfast to see the tall ships
