Always Busy? Pretty Much.

It was a busy weekend.

I got the paint touched up in the hallway, up to just above the tops of the doorframes. That was as high as I could reach without using a ladder, and I didn’t want to risk one with my back as cranky as it is. The hallway looks much nicer, now. The front hall closet is next.

Paul put the interior window frame/trim up in our bedroom several days ago. I used the wood-filler stuff and filled the corner joints and edges. Now that it’s dry, I need to touch it up with a little sandpaper, and then paint it. Once we had the framing on, we saw that we should have carried the paint a little further than we did when we painted the walls, but I can incorporate that part into the frame paint instead, so it’s all good. I figure I’ll do one window all the way done, then do the other window…

Henry came over on Saturday and he and Paul did things to Paul’s computer. It locks up, and Paul has been trying to fix it for a long time. Although they accomplished some good things, apparently it still locks up. *sigh* Computers are nifty, stupid and mysterious. Listen up, Paul’s Computer! I have a fishbat in my trunk, and could very easily mistake you for a trout!

Paul is making provision for storing his comic books. He has a pretty extensive collection of them, and unless we get cleverer than we are now, we don’t have a good solution for storing them. I feel bad about that; I don’t want him to think that part of him isn’t valued. :o( Right now, the plan is to seal them into plastic bags and put them in the garage, up in the rafters. Once we have electricity in the garage, we’ll put a couple of those electric mouse-chaser things there. Or, we’ll get clever and think of a better solution. Ideas?

Thinks…

Hippo Birdies

Took the day off today, as did Paul. We went for dinner last night to Mocha (and were out late, which is why we took today off). If Bou had come with us to Mocha, our ears would have dropped CLEAN OFF from all the frou-frou chefy talking she would have done about the meals. Wow. I can't really even adequately describe it. Chef Daniel made us a sort of beef wellington, but mine had no mushrooms as I am not fond of them, but instead it had some kind of cheese... not sure what kind it was. White, melty, a little pungent... coulda bin asiago. Mmm. That place is brilliant and YOU HAVE TO GO THERE.

Paul gave me a Hello Kitty stuffed toy, which was cute, but the emerald stud earrings it was wearing were breath-taking.

The plan for today is to relax. Tonight we're going out for supper somewhere local, all three of us. Ben has finals this week, so he's home now, too. We didn't bring him with us to Mocha since we knew we'd be home late and we thought he'd do better on his math exam on a full night's sleep.

Consider yourself hugged. Have a really good day!

The Were-Rabbit Is In All Of Us!

We saw Wallace and Gromit this evening at the 'cheap theatre' ($5.25 for all 3 of us to see the film. Total, not each :o) ). It was fun! We did notice that the characters changed in size quite a bit, when seen from different angles, but overall it was a good movie. Good, wholesome (lots of veg) fun.

Work has been going ok, my back has been being *reallly* sore, we're all well. Today was the first sunny day in about 16 days, so I guess I can postpone all that dank-weather-caused dark-mood-related dumb-people-strangling I had on the schedule. Which is a good thing. Strangle that many dumb people, you could give yourself a nasty case of overuse tendonitis.

:o)

Mmm. A535.

Trying to Get Back in the Groove.

Sorry this has been so sporadic. I'm out of the habit of posting, and since Paul's blogs almost always cover what I'd cover here, it sometimes seems like it'd be wasted effort to post here. So, sorry! I'm going to try to write more often, so that my scope on things can get written down, and, on the off chance there is someone who reads my blog and not Paul's, that reader can stay abreast of things.

Home is good. Home is wonderful. It's still on the chaotic side, but settling down. Paul has been working like a fiend to get the cardboard down to a dull roar, and to get things set up/thrown out/put away/installed/organised, and he's made huge headway.

I arranged for a window-coverings guy (Budget Blinds) to come around, and we bought a blind for the kitchen window so the neighbours don't have to look at our scariness first thing in the morning, and a pair of blinds for our bedroom so they don't have to look at our scariness last thing at night. The fabric for our windows is this really neat kinda east-Indian looking blue and red print with elephants and horses and things. *Very* cool! Ben's windows got IKEA roman blinds.

We have a plumber coming on Monday - the tap in the bathtub leaks into the basement. The pipes etc are exposed so there shouldn't been any drywalling (thank goodness) so (according to Ben the plumber) it shouldn't cost too much. Whew!

To relax we have been playing Puzzle Pirates, a really fun co-operative online puzzle game.

That's about it for now. Take care! Try to keep the cats out of the basement rafters...
