Woo! Paper one of four is complete and submitted.
*grins like a maniac*
School: I'm making *very* slow progress on my paper (first of four). It's challenging because A) it's been so long since the class and the knowledge is rusty, and B) it's been so long since I've had to write like this and the skillls are rusty. I've been operating on the thought that the paper is due Friday - it's actually due tomorrow. ACK!!
I started physical therapy. Hear that? That's all my multifidi screaming. :o)
Work: No work assignment yet from Kelly's, though they are getting me set up so I can be on the list for the school system. I'd be one of the people who fill in whenever one of their office admin people call in sick.
After I finish this paper, I'm going to update my resume and head off to another temp agency, probably Manpower, so that I have two groups of people looking for work for me instead of just one. I looked online and Manopower seems to have a selection on short-term administrative jobs listed. Kelly's always used to find me positions really quickly, but this time, no such luck. So we widen the field a bit and see what happens.
*hugs* all. Back to my paper now!
Bumper sticker: God was my co-pilot, but we crashed into the Andes and had to eat him.
All four of my LU profs have now gotten back to me, and all said yes! I finished the reading for the Poli Sci class, and today I start into answering the assignment questions.
Woo!
Start wearing purple for me now/all your sanity and wits they will vanish/I promise/It's just a matter of time. Warning: this link leads to a gypsy punk band. Not for the faint of heart!
Was feeling terrible yesterday, terrible headache, feverish and nauseous. Bleah! Feeling much better today. Went out with Ben and got his school supplies, including a 'graphing calculator' (I dunno what it does, but he needs it for math) and a bunch of regular stuff like scribblers and folders and the like.
This evening the three of us went out to Best Buy and Paul and I purchased silly gifts for each other, for our anniversary. Paul bought me an i-Dog and I bought him a ... thing.
No job assignment yet. Humph.
I got another YES from a prof at LU! For those of you keeping score at home, that's two of four now. :o) OK, so it's the two non-Soc profs, and these *are* the two less important classes, but still. :o)
I see the doc on Friday, and start Physical Therapy. Woo!
Take it easy, all! *hugs*
No temp job yet, but lots of homework. I'm re-reading the required books for the class from the one prof so far to get back to me; 1984 and Frankenstein went relatively fast, and now I'm working on Erewhon (Samuel Butler). And that's all she wrote! :o)
Whee!
I quit my job. Tuesday morning first thing, I left a note on my manager's desk. After she did a bunch of chasing around, she called me into her office to tell me that since the temp (who was covering my job while I was out on leave) can stay, and is trained on the "new" procedures, and I am not trained on these new procedures, how about if I go home with pay for my two week's notice period...? Aww, powpow, Soly has to have two weeks paid holiday. :o)
As an aside, the new procedures were barely different from the way I used to do things. I think the real issue was that my supervisor wanted more control and to monitor things more closely than before, which is actually a reasonable thing. I suppose there's probably a way to accomplish that without making the person it's being done to feel like they're not trusted and are thought to be stupid, but that's not the way it was being done. *shrug* I think the next person will find things to be OK, since presumably they won't be having those changes made under them, as they go, with no notice or warning.
I dropped in at Kelly Services on my way out of downtown, and told them I'd like to temp again. They scheduled me for some testing on Thursday, but called me Tuesday evening to tell me they have a temp job for me starting Thursday if I want it. :o) We think it's in the same building Paul works in. More info as I get it.
I am getting my degree done. Yes, I know, it's about fricking time. I found out from Someone Who Knows at the university that completion of deferred credits doesn't actually have an official deadline (I had been told 6 months), it's up to each individual prof whether they'll accept deferred papers or not. I have four deferred credits - and one prof has already agreed to let me finish. I'm reading the books again. He wants the paper to him by the end of August. No problem. :o) I'll post what/when/if I hear form the other 3 profs. Once I have a decision from all the profs, we'll decide what to do next. But that degree is getting *done*.
I'm happy. I feel like I'm making progress. Even if all I do with my degree is finish it and get it off my plate, that'll be good.
*hugs* all. More later.
