A question for you fabricaholics out there...

I've decided that it was *way* too much work hauling all that fabric up our stairs to save it when our basement flooded recently. Especially all that cotton that I don't actually think I'll never use. None of it is spectacular, none of it was damaged in the flood, none of it is period for the 122th century I'm pretty sure.

So.

Has anyone sold fabric on ebay? How did it go? Or have you sold it anyhow else?

Thanks!!

Some quick knots in some loose ends...

My visit to my parent's place a few weeks ago was really nice for the most part. It’s always really good to spend time with them. This time though I kinda blew up at them a bit... ever since I was a kid I've known they have had trouble communicating. I'm not sure why they do, but there it is. This time they were just being so cranky and stupid with each other I got pissed off, sat them both down, and spoke my mind. I tried to be helpful but I really wanted to give them a reality check. They are both such intelligent people, but they sometimes treat each other so rudely because it seems they are completely unaware of how the other thinks, so they can't see how the other will perceive them *at all*. Not that I'm an expert! But I thought my perspective might be sufficiently different... anyway I dunno if my tirade resulted in any actual change in their behaviours. I kinda doubt it. I mean, if you had a way of being that you'd used for 50 years, would hearing one pissed-off lecture make any difference whatever?

When we got our basement finished, we agreed to do an open house for the company in return for a reduction in the cost of the system. And if anyone chooses this company for their basement from having seen ours, we get a little cheque as a 'thank you'. Peachy! So the open house was at the end of May. We worked hard to get our basement ready; staining wood, cleaning, organizing, and there was much husbandly toting of heavy stuff to the (unfinished) laundry room side of the basement. There were about 15 people at the open house, which is apparently about typical for this area, and we'll see if anyone buys the system. Whatever.

The open house was on May 24th. On June 7th, it rained. I mean oh boy did it rain. To the point where our community was completely cut off because all the roads in and out were under water, and the state declared a state of emergency... and we spend much of the afternoon and evening wading around in water in our basement.

Most of you know that I'm pretty tall. 6 feet, in point of fact. The water in my beautiful basement was up to my *waist*. Pictures are here.

So a few weeks ago, I was feeling very excited and even reasonably optimistic about maybe being able to fight again. I know what to do for a training regimen, I know what to do for a fitness/rehab regimen, and I even found a Knight who was willing to supervise my training (both to hold me back when I try to go too far, and to help keep me motivated)... and as soon as I started my back got worse again. I mean, I hadn't even gotten as far as swinging a stick! Mobilization. Reasonable stuff. I know what I'm doing with that sort of thing! But apparently my back has other plans.

Spending several hours wading around in cold water, lifting, bending, carrying, stumbling... none of that helped. In fact holy crap am I stiff and sore.

Sigh.

I got hired on at MCFI. It's going well.

That's all I have for now.

EEE!

A youtube video with no cute kids and/or pets, no poorly-faked aliens, no guys on treadmills... it's fantastic! Major (and minor) music history geekage at it's geekiest and it's in *french*!!!

Check out some info about the show here - it was called Kaamelott. I found out about it from a SCAdian friend's livejournal.

:o)

Though I admit I enjoyed the guys on treadmills one...

Oh, and I was just reminded about this... if you feel like it, hop on over and try it out for me! It only takes a minute. I'd appreciate it. Thanks! This is a link my "Johari window".
