Things...

I've let a lot of time get by me, again. I'm sorry.

The UWM charter review went ok, though there are things to be done. But we were renewed, which was a relief.

Ben has applied to MIT and Dalhousie. MIT gives their verdict in March 14, at one minute to two. 3/14, 1:59. Pi. I think that's a sign, it's perfect for Ben.

Paul still has his job. Things have settled down, I think... I hope.

The basement hasn't flooded again. Yet. Any available finger-crossings on behalf of keeping it dry will be gratefully accepted.

The cats are doing well. They eat, shed, stomp on us as they will... normal things.

Normal things.

Today was the day the charter review team from UWM came to work to decide whether we get to keep going or not. As a charter school, this is one way we are totally dependent on the entity holding our charter. I think it went pretty well. I guess I'll find out tomorrow.

Any way you cut it, I count today as a personal success. I didn't set even *one* person on fire. Not even when they were totally asking for it.

Yay me.

Seems I get too ambitious about writing in this thing, then get overwhelmed and quit. So, I'm going to try again, and just try to write a little every day or so.

There's lots going on.

One big thing is that the law firm where my hubbie works just fired about a dozen people in the technology department. He still has his job, thank whatever deity you like... it's good except that the same amount of work has to get done. I guess "Work harder, not smarter" is a corporate motto there. Bleargh. Hopefully that's the last of it for a while...

Hui Neng once approached a student who was sitting in meditation. "Why do you spend so much time sitting?" he asked. "Because I want to become a Buddha," the student replied.

At this, Hui Neng picked up a brick tile from the floor, and began rubbing it with his robe. "Why are you doing that?" asked the student. "Because I want to make a mirror," Hui Neng replied.

"But Master," said the student, "no amount of -- oh, wait, I get it! Very funny, very funny."
