Squee!

I just got the rough cover for DEMON HUNTS, book five of the Walker Papers, due out in June 2010 (and book four is out in three weeks! Yay!). ZOMG. I wish I could show this off to you right now, because it’s going to be amazing. Wow. Wow! Yay! I believe I have a new favorite cover!

Holy crap, speaking of covers, I just saw the cover to the twelfth Dresden Files novel. Holy *crap*. If you’ve been paying any attention, the Dresden Files always have two word titles, same number of letters in each word, always a pun. CHANGES, therefore, is a *huge* freaking change…and I don’t think it’s coincidental that the title style change comes at the halfway point of the series. Holy *crap*, man! My world is set awry! And I have just promised myself I will catch up on the Dresden Files when book twelve comes out. Holy *crap*!

Uh. Reeling from Jim’s cover/title/etc. Uh. Scraping brain cells together…right. Threw out the 5.5K I’d written on RATTLESNAKE DANCES and started over. It’s better now. It may not be *good* yet, but it’s better. I have…no hope of getting it done before going to Belfast, but I may take the Enterprise with me to work on the train (also called the Enterprise), because I work well on trains, & could probably finish the proposal by Monday if I did that. Which would be swell. :)

I reached Minas Tirith today. For the third or possibly even fourth time. Third time, I guess, looking at the stats. That’s 786 miles since last November (man, I should weigh 140 pounds). The next leg of my journey (which, if you don’t know what I’m talking about, is the Walk to Rivendell) could either be a final trip to Minas Tirith with Merry and the Rohirrim (578 miles), or finishing Aragorn’s leg of the journey, which goes to Morannon and back again. I’ve just finished an Aragorn bit, and those two legs are much shorter, 138 & 120 miles respectively, so I think I’ll do them for the sense of accomplishment. I thought it would take until 2011 to finish these outward-bound walks, but, um, well, I’ll probably finish by next March at this rate. Seven years to the month after I started. :)

I made arroz con pollo for dinner, which turned out pretty well (it would’ve been better but I forgot to put salt in. OTOH, salt can be added after the fact). Ted then TOTALLY trumped me because I’d asked him to make something lovely for dessert, and he made an almond tart with fresh strawberries and cream. It was as pretty as it was good. I took pictures. :)
