1. Agents of SHIELD done good. That final shot! ♥ Glad they’re renewed.
2. The Tomorrow People did exactly what I thought they shouldn’t at the *very end*, and totally lost me. Up until 2 minutes before the credits rolled I was willing to forgive some of the rampant stupidities and was hoping there’d be a second season, now I don’t care, so it’s fine with me that they’re not renewed.
3. Arrow: Oh, that was a really nice hand-off to season 3.
Slightly more detail, with spoilers, behind the cut.
1. Agents of SHIELD: The one thing I was really afraid SHIELD would do was redeem Ward, and they didn’t. He’s obviously lost & conflicted, but definitely not redeemed, so I’m thrilled. and TRIPP is replacing him OMG *does the dance of joy, Nunphar*! It’s kinda my hope that we see Ward and Flowers as recurring frenemies, as suggested by another friend of mine in chat. That would be cool. Ward can have a redemption arc as long as it takes a really long time.
And possibly involves May nailing his foot to the floor a few more times.
I’m a little confused as to how long Fitz was, er, dead, I guess. Because it really appeared that the pod blew, they surfaced, Simmons looked up, and lo, there was Fury reaching down like the hand of God to save them, in approximate real time, which was about 90 seconds. Call it another 30 to get them actually on board and have somebody start to administer CPR, and…I dunno, the implications of great irreversible damage having been done seem a little overblown. Not impossible, obviously, but it seems overdone. Granted, we’re talking about Fitz here, so perhaps Great Doom means he’s been reduced to a normal intellect. Which would be awesome in a character development way, actually. And apparently Simmons never took any lifeguard classes, because in mine we were taught how to administer CPR even in the water. It wasn’t suggested as ideal and and it was obviously easier with two people, but…anyway. o.o
I thought all the Witty Banter betwixt Fury and Coulson was a bit forced, which is too bad, because it had the potential to be hysterical. The “found it!” at the end was pretty funny, though, and overall I really enjoyed it. (Ted said, “We just watched a guy get imploded and we’re all like “hahahah!” Compare that to the anticipated violence of the season finale of Arrow tomorrow night…” which is of course one of the things I generally like about Marvel’s film stuff. The violence tends to be pretty, well, comic-booky.)
The best moment, though? (Okay, there were about five best moments, including the nailgun and the afore-mentioned final shot, but.) The best moment for me, honestly, was Coulson’s face when he says “It was only meant to be used in drastic emergencies! Like if an Avenger died!” and Fury’s response of, “Exactly.” I almost cried. That was perfect.
So, yeah. The last 6 episodes have been like a totally different show, and I’m really looking forward to next season.
With TRIPP! #drools
2. The Tomorrow People: Okay, there were some serious problems with this. Well, the first one was what’s-her-face actually warning The Founder that she was going to blow him up. That was really, really dumb. She should’ve just kept talking sweetly until she blew up.
Also, I have *major* issues with using Astrid to make the call to detonate the bomb. That was a hideous act and I’m grateful the goddamn show got canceled just so Astrid never learns what she did.
Those things aside, however:
1. What, did The Machine just, like, suck Roger’s powers out of him, without any conscious willing effort on his part? Because that didn’t seem to be how it worked with Steven…
2. Why. The ever-loving hell. Did Jed not just PULL THE POWER PLUG instead of SHOOTING ROGER. Or TELEPORT SOME VITAL COMPONENT OUT OF THE MACHINE. Or SOMETHING. Because STUPID.
3. The answer to #2 is apparently Because Jed Is A Bad Guy, which, frankly, is a *huge* disappointment to me. They screwed up everything with Jed and John, AFAIC.
I wanted John to remain human; that was a much more interesting fate. Better yet would have been for his powers to gradually return due to all of the experiments run on him, or possibly because it turns out it’s not possible to gene-clip somebody that way permanently, but I’d have gone with the experimentation angle, and kept it on the down-low long enough to work that relationship with Astrid to the point of real doom. But no, instead we soup him up with borrowed powers, give him a shave and a haircut, put him in a suit and hire him out as a killer. Booooooooooooring.
And frankly, giving *John* Roger’s powers is just short-sightedness. Jed had borrowed some random girl’s powers with short-term success, but Roger was his *brother*. If it had been my story, using Roger’s genetic code to enhance his own would have been longer-term successful, causing Jed to actually become a real genuine good guy superhero…so that two or three seasons later when his Roger-serum runs out and Steven (and/or the kid brother) is the only source of potential long-term superpower for Jed, then his betrayal is much worse.
Anyway. Totally disgusted with the end of the season, I am, so feck ’em.
3. Arrow: HEY WHAT ISLAND HONG KONG WHAT HUH
Also poor Felicity, waugh, and *niiiiiiiiiiiiiice* handoff by Sarah to Lauren (and I liked Dad: Don’t get any ideas.).
Thank God John Barrowman has laid off some of the Botox. He’s looking much sexier in these last couple episodes, and man, poor Thea. I don’t much like her, but man, she’s just been screwed. over.
Roy, however, rocks that red mask. #dayumn
The cuts between the two Ollie/Slade fights were really beautiful, and it was a nice echo to have Sarah slide away into the water again.
Yeah, no, that’s about it.
