three things make a post

Thing One – my friend, comics artist Matthew Dow Smith, is taking commissions for characters, any characters, in his “kid comics” style over the weekend. I got him to do Chance earlier in the month, and I love her SO MUCH! See her? Isn’t she CUTE?

He’s also taking teen kid-style commissions and I truly truly love him and this art style and it’s a super great way to support an artist for a very reasonable commission price if there’s a character you’d like to see done for you, so… go forth, buy art! 😍

Thing Two – Five years ago I was staggering out of the cinema at 3am, overwhelmed & overjoyed. I will never again experience the sheer, wild, unadulterated joy of a theatre full of fans losing their minds as over a decade’s worth of going to the movies got the world’s most epic payoff. I think I may rewatch Infinity War and Endgame this weekend, because oh my heart.

Thing Three – oh hahaha this was great, I saw this on fb yesterday:

and it reminded me of being in college, when I would very, very regularly go into the local Waldenbooks and order SFF stuff that I wanted that they weren’t otherwise carrying. At one point, wanting to re-read Lloyd Alexander’s Westmark trilogy, I ordered those, and when I came in to pick them up, the cashier told me that they’d ordered copies for themselves, too, because they’d never read that trilogy and everything else I ordered suggested I had excellent taste in books and that they were sure they’d like them.

I TOTALLY got a good grade in Bookstore that day! :D

(Which ALSO reminded that when my older nibling was ten or eleven I gave her some books for her birthday, which she devoured. The next year, I gave her different ones, upon which she looked dubiously and said, “I’ve never heard of these writers.”

Me: This time last year you hadn’t heard of (authors of all the books she’d been reading over the past year).

Her: oh yeah. How did I find out about them?

Me: I gave you the books.

Her: OH.

😂)
