Recent Reads: Bitterburn by Ann Aguirre – I loved this, too.
BITTERBURN is another Beauty and the Beast retelling, and look if I can find one more to read* in the next week or so I’ll be feeling a trifecta of joy over BatB stories. :D
This one’s purely fantasy, not modern at all, and has multiple twists I ADORED, not the least of which is that our Beauty takes herself to the Beast under her own volition, which is always a thing I like to see in BatB stories. I don’t want to spoil anything, but this is a seexxxxxyyyyy hot delicious WONDERFUL retelling and I really, really enjoyed it.
*one more new one. I know of at least four other excellent retellings, and if I can’t find a new one and am really jonesing for a hit I’ll re-read Ursula’s BRYONY & ROSES, but it’s so good I might spiral into despair because I’ll never write anything like it, which is a thing that happens with her stuff and me, like, regularly. I may have to read CE Murphy’s ROSES IN AMBER instead.
