I did more creatively in 2025 than I expected, if for no other reason than I started drawing again, which just kind of happened rather than being A Plan. And also 450,000 words written, and as one of my Patreons pointed out (and I’d have forgotten!), making foam armor for my son’s Halloween costume, and…the smallest bit of knitting, too. It was a very creative year, all things told!

I also managed to READ 98 books this year, besides writing eight of them (depending on what you qualify as a book, I guess. in both cases, I guess.) By the end of November when I was in the low 90s I thought I’d make my Sekrit Goal of 104 books (averaging 2 a week) but then I wrote 58,000 words or something like that in 19 days and didn’t read anything at all, so I fell slightly short of the Sekrit Goal. But I came close and I’m happy with that, particularly since the Actual Goal is 52, one a week. The past 3 years are the only years since about IDEK when, at least 2010, that I’ve managed THAT, and of those 3 years, I hit the Sekrit Goal once, the Actual Goal once, and nearly hit the Sekrit Goal again, so I’m starting to feel like I’m reading almost enough these days. It’s really nice.
Oh, I even managed to read a little non-fiction this year, which I’m proud of. Only a little – two books, I think – but perhaps I’ll aim for six next year, or something. Or four. Or three. :) Because I don’t think I’m going to do one a month, even if that would be swell, but more than this year would also be great! :)
Very unusually, I rewatched two entire tv shows (The Good Place and Travelers) , which makes the number of tv shows I’ve watched all the way through more than once…three. (I’ve watched Farscape about 3.5 times. Possibly 4.5 times.) And I’ve just spent a lot of time this past month staring at tv when I wasn’t writing because I’ve been too tired to involve myself with any kind of entertainment that required more than hitting ‘play’ on a remote.
Um, let’s see. I also failed to go to Greece with my husband and son because my passport had expired, and (unrelatedly) started cycling again, although I’ve done so little of that the past couple months I’m going to have to start starting again. I do need to get some more reflective gear, though, because most of the reason I kind of stopped was the nights got longer and darker and I found out I’m not comfortable riding in anything resembling traffic in the dark. (Or much at all, but particularly in the dark.) So I need to be Brightly Colored, or at least Highly Reflective, for my own peace of mind, apparently.
That’s…probably not all the recap I COULD do (hah! that’s something else I did do, isn’t it, was my reCap in which I watched all the Captain America movies in order :heart eyes:), but it’s all I’m going to do because I need to eat breakfast. Bye, and Happy New Year! :)
