I’ve always wondered if I could, if I really buckled down and focused, write five hundred thousand words in a year.
Turns out I can. O_O
Last calendar year I did about 450K, which was by several tens of thousands my best writing year ever. But from November 2025 through April 2026, I was insanely busy, and while the months since have been less insane, they’ve still been busy enough that…well, I just cracked half a million words written since November last year. In twelve months. Under twelve months.
In eleven months, almost, because I wrote so little in August that it’s basically Words Georg and should be discounted as an outlier. Like, 3500 words is a rounding error, out of 500K. :) Which kind of makes it 500K in 10.5 months, doesn’t it, because it’s still the first half of October.
Jesus.
Anyway, so…that’s a thing I can do, apparently. O_O
I’m not entirely sure it’s my favorite thing to do. I think 400k is more comfortable. But 500K is possible, and I haven’t quite killed myself doing it, so that’s good to know.
I’m currently on track for about 480K this calendar year, which is…I mean, I’ve met me, if I get that close I’m going to have a hard time not trying to write that other 20K for 500K this calendar year, but I may also be able to go “no, girl, you did it, you’re allowed to just sleep and drool during December” :D
But really, like…if you’ve been wondering where I’ve been, that’s kind of the answer. Half a million words in a year.
