Man. That is sufficient Blowing It to make me want to not count points for tonight. :P Overall, I don’t consider it to be particularly damaging, but in conjunction with going to the state fair tomorrow, where I .intend. to eat things that are bad for me, I’m afraid I’m going to go into the red and spend the rest of the week miserable. My reaction every time to actually going over my points is to stop keeping official track of them, although I continue to keep track in my head. I just absolutely cannot stand to see the website telling me I blew it.
*sigh* Well, I hadn’t planned on counting the fair stuff anyway, because it was a Special Treat, so I guess I’m just going to have to be damned careful about the rest of my week. And exercise a lot. :P
Is WPA some sort of weekly allowance for extra points? It seems useful to formalize how much leeway one can have before officially having Blown It.
Yeah. Basically you get X number of points a day (22, at my weight, and they *roughly* equate to 50 calories a point) and then an additional 35 points over the course of a week to spend (eat) when you see fit. So I’m down to 19 of those additional points, and today’s the first day of my week, so gah. .Most. weeks I end up with about 17 WPA points left, though last week I didn’t do that by miles, and I’m not real likely to this week either.
You can also earn points for exercising, where the activity points earned are approximately 100 calories burned, 50 calories to “spend”. I usually earn between 2-5 activity points a day, which basically keep me from STARVING TO DEATH, but the WPA are awfully nice to have as a buffer beyond those APs.
You may see that you get better results from this week in which you’ll have used all your flex points than other weeks in which you haven’t. *hugs*
I hate weeks like this, but…
Record your points anyway. Even though the website may be balefully telling you you’re over. I find it motivational to have it do so, because it makes me try to be very good for the other days when I’m not intentionally blowing it.
It also helps to keep me honest with myself.
Eat perfectly 80% of the time…
Remember, this is you doing this to be healthy, and not you torturing yourself. You have a goal, and believe me, I KNOW how frustrating it is for the scale not to move in the correct direction.
Upsetting yourself over lack of direction is counter productive. Have fun, enjoy your week, enjoy the fair, readdress afterwards without looking back and playing the “I shoulda/coulda game…”
We will still like you even knowing you didn’t want to count your points :-)
The scale holding steady is at least less dishenheartening than it moving upward. :) I’m not so much upset as just starting out my WW week feeling like there’s noooo poooooint. I won’t throw the towel in, because one or two bad days does not a fat person make. It’s just, you know. Grr.
I *don’t* find it motivational. It just makes me really crabby. One of those YMMV things, clearly. :) But I did record last night’s dinner, and tonight at the fair I was planning to give myself for free anyway, so I’m still going to do that.
Eat perfectly 80% of the time…
I keep reminding myself of that, in fact. Two meals aren’t going to break the weight-loss bank. :)
I might! I know people do sometimes. It’d be nice if I shook my metabolism up a little and saw a loss!
I sure know exactly wha tyou’ve mean. My scale hasn’t budged in a few weeks, but I’m trying not to let it get to me. It’s just so nice when it finally does move the right way!
