this is preposterous, she said weakly

“No Dominion” is less than $1400 from $20K. Not only do I write a third novella if it breaks 20K, but I *laughs* *clears throat* I do a video recording of me singing “The Wind Beneath My Wings” for the patron list. Also, the campaign has just hit 487 backers, 300 more than any previous crowdfunding attempt. This is preposterous. It’s wonderful. It’s amazing. It’s exciting. But it’s preposterous. I have the most incredibly wonderful readers *ever*!

Last hours.

19 hours to go. It’s $55 from $17K right now. I’m doing the hysterical page re-load thing again, like a five year old on Christmas Eve, unable to stop peeking down the stairs to see if Santa’s come yet. The guess-the-final-total contest is closed now. I can’t close comments on the entry, but any guesses posted after I post this journal entry won’t be counted. Don’t want people to be able to totally game the win at the last minute. Just to sum up what you get for buying into…

The Final Countdown

Kickstarter begins an hourly countdown at 72 hours, it turns out. It’s down to the last 48 now, and the “No Dominion” campaign has broken $16.3K. This, to put it in perspective, is only $700 less than the most I have been paid as an advance on any single book that I’ve sold to a traditional publisher. Roughly 450 (it’s very close to that number now!) ordinary people have very nearly matched what a New York publishing house pays me. And it’s market value, too, because what I’m expecting to…

Victoria’s Secret Superheroes

Apparently this year’s Victoria’s Secret fashion show, which I didn’t even really know existed, had a theme of superheroes. Some of the costumes are actually kind of cool, given that, y’know, they’re lingerie and therefore just about exactly as impractical as nearly every female superhero costume out there. I coulda done without the one buns shot in particular, though from the front that ‘costume’ really kind of rocked. But the best part, as one of the commenters said, is that they mostly look like they’re really having fun, instead of…

baking & writing

I know I’ve been all about the Kickstarter, and you’ve been very patient with me. Thank you. Very soon now I’ll shut up about it. And I promise all I’ll say today is that I forgot to say yesterday that the second novella is almost certainly going to be about Billy and Melinda, since they’re the second-most-asked-for characters after Gary. :) In the meantime, all I’ve been doing is baking and writing. I mean, really, that’s all I’ve been doing. (And eating what I’ve been baking, so my bum is…
