My since-forever-ago writing partner & dear friend SL Gray is running a Kickstarter! She’s tackling revisions of her fantasy novel THE DRAGON UNDONE, and I, for one, am eagerly looking forward to the new revised manuscript. Join me in helping make this project happen, so that we all might revel in the delight of new stories to read!
I have also recently donated one of the newer Gryphon Beach stories to a fundraiser campaign for a little girl named Gwen whose move to a new school put her and her family between a rock and a hard place with regard to Gwen’s autism. If you’d like to read the story (and loads of others by many, many other writers over the next months), please do check out the fundraising program!
What a great campaign for Gwen. This is a subject near and dear to my heart as my oldest daughter has autism. Special ed navigation blows! SF is a hard district to work with and I’ve heard horror stories. I’m in a neighboring district and we have better than average services. I know what it’s like to have to fight for what your kids need and deserve and we went the lawyer route 5 years ago. It was stressful, expensive, and just plain sucked! However, our suit helped to effect positive change in our district and other squeaky-wheel parents like myself were able to work with our district to bring about some great changes in thinking and services. When I graduate as a special ed teacher in a year’s time I hope to be a part of the solution for parents and kids that I can totally empathize with as I have been there too. Off to contribute to this worthwhile campaign now!
