I have BOOKS!

I have a WHOLE BOX of books! THE QUEEN’S BASTARD has arrived…and wow, is a box full of this book *pretty*. All rich and lush looking. Unfortunately, I have no clever ideas on contests to run, and perhaps more relevantly, no money to send books out with, so I’m not going to be giving books away right now. (Fortunately, it’s out on Tuesday, so people might start seeing it in bookstores as soon as this weekend. In fact, somebody reported the first sighting yesterday–in *Stockholm*, of all places.) random bits

I decided last night that I was going to the gym this morning, but this morning I couldn’t find my gym pass, so I went for a walk instead. On the way back, I saw a little black kitten, maybe 4 months old or so, in one of the parks. Ted and I had seen him on Monday, and were concerned about him, but weren’t sure if *maybe* he belonged to somebody, although he certainly didn’t look like he did. But we had no way of capturing him at the…

I had no idea so many people felt so strongly about oranges! :) The other day somebody asked me, somewhere, how I knew how long a book would be. I rambled on about it on Magical Words today, so perhaps that’ll be of some interest to people. Only yesterday I was proclaiming proudly to Ted that I’d been out of the house almost every single day of the year, except two or three back in January. However, I have not been out today, and it’s pissing down rain, so I…

I have this mostly-hate relationship with oranges. I dislike peeling them, because I hate getting orange skin under my fingernails. And I don’t like the pulpy white stuff that sticks to the orange after it’s been peeled, so I end up sort of peeling it again to get rid of that, and by then there’s no point in having bothered in the first place. Or, of course, you can cut the orange into quarters and slorch the juice and some of the meat out of it, which ends up with…
