a day off

I never did get started today. Napping ended in dreams of people asking me about project after project I was supposed to be working on but had never heard of. Ted took me out of the house and we walked down to the Blackpool farmers’ market, which wasn’t worth walking down to because it’s new, off-season, and not well-populated, but was worth it because it was a beautiful day and it got me out of the house for quite a while. And we discovered the DIY store down at the…

missy crankypants

I am a total missy crankypants today. It took forever to go to sleep, as it has for most of the last week, I woke up at what would have been a reasonable time if I hadn’t gone to sleep so late, but didn’t get up, and had extremely cross dreams for the next eighty minutes or so, got up, and was followed around the house by cats who screamed as though they had not been fed in centuries. I decided to allow myself breakfast-time on the internet, hoping it…

walking & writing

I got a pedometer for Christmas, and today I read the instructions (gasp!) and got it working. It’s rather nifty, with a stopwatch, a calorie counter (which I think runs high, but that’s ok, I don’t imagine I’ll use that aspect much anyway), a clock, and, of course, the step-counter, which appears to count pretty accurately. xkcd

I don’t actually read xkcd regularly, generally only when people point out a particularly great strip, so I totally missed the meetup. I mean, not that I’d have gone anyway, but I missed reading about it, so now, several months after the fact, I am going to show you how the intarwebs make the world a better place. This comic, which is a bit heartbreaking in and of itself, inspired this meetup, which is heartbreaking in a whole different way. Sometimes, humans rock. Yesterday when I said I’d have to…

10K.

There. That’s 10,120 words so far this year. I hate these early stages, really anything before 20K, because 4 digits or that 1 hanging out in front during the teens always seems like such a very tiny number. I even don’t like the rollover to 100 or 200K for the same reason. Zeroes and teens are too leetle to make me happy. :) I had some sort of grandiose plan involving exercise today, and was heartened and inspired by the lovely morning. However, by the time I finished my initial…
