Not only did I finish the first chapter yesterday, it ends in a place that drives my main character straight into action. Thank freebing God. I may survive this proposal yet! I’ve been sitting here for days going nowhere with the first chapter of HANDS OF FLAME. This morning I threw out what I had and started again, switching to the other viewpoint character instead of the one who starts the first two books (but tied the openings to all three together by using a line very similar to HoS’s first line (which may be too kitschy, but which works for me for the moment) even though the viewpoint character had changed), and I’ve written some 1300 words this morning. laid-back day
I’m feeling very mellow, due to having stayed up far too late last night. I’m not accomplishing much, or at any great rate of speed, but I did at least manage to finally call the bank and ask what happened to the check I deposited in May (I’ve been meaning to do this since July), so they’re investigating that. I also paid bills, thanks to ‘s helpful Western Unioning. If I’m very together I might call my bank in Alaska tonight and actually talk to a live human person about…
no mystery novels…
I didn’t have any mystery novels, so I was obliged to read Allen Steele’s COYOTE trilogy today. Good stuff. I have a couple hours before I meet Robin on CoH. I’m thinkin’ maybe I can fit one more book in, if I can find one lying around that I want to read. Or maybe I’ll make a cake, which has put me in mind of. Or maybe I’ll make a dinner with no morally redeeming qualities except its ease. That part I’m already doing, so there’s little question of it…
