Picoreview: The Boss puts on a good show. Even if I knew exactly four songs, all hits from the 80s, I’m damned glad we went to the Springsteen concert. It was fun, he was great, he lifted a 7 year old kid up onto the stage to sing with him, and it is my recollection that in the 80s, aside from a moderate musical talent, he was also known for really being able to fill out a pair of jeans. Dude’s 62 and can still shake that thang. Dayum. (Halfway through the second song Ted said to me, “Bruce has an ass cam,” and I said, “There’s a reason Bruce has an ass cam…” :)) Anyway, we had a really good time and apparently I’m not going to manage a better writeup than this, so there ya go.
Also, despite the fact that it had been lashing rainstorms all day, the skies began to clear as the concert began and it was an utterly beautiful evening all the way through. God continues to prove herself as a rock fan. :)
Picoreview: The Dark Knight Rises: I liked Avengers better, but the end of the film lifted it all up for me. It needed at least half an hour cut from it. That said, though: Anne Hathaway was the first person I’ve ever seen play Selina Kyle on the big screen (Michelle Pfeiffer did not play Selina Kyle, regardless of what the character was named), and she was wonderful. Honestly wonderful. Please let there be a Catwoman movie, and please let them not screw it up.
Possibly the most entertaining bit of the movie for me came beforehand, when they were playing commercials. One of them is this annoying “Moms support their little Olympic athletes through it all” thing that’s being aired over here, and the woman next to me, just sitting down as the ad played, snarled, “Because fathers aren’t parents too,” which made me start giggling. She muttered, “Sorry,” and I said no, no, I’m totally with you, and we had an increasingly good giggle over it. Nice to find kindred spirits. :)
