*stupid, stupid grin*

I have just finished writing a 555 page novel.

*stupid, STUPID grin*!

This is the first time in a *really long time* that I’ve been *actively pleased* about finishing a book. Wow. Wow! I am just completely goddamned delighted right now! It came in at, um. 132,000 words, and frankly the last two or three chapters need an assload of work, but *damn*, the big work is DONE! *Wow*!

*falls over and kicks feet and EHEHEHEHEHEH SQUEEEEEEE*!

ytd wordcount: 366,600

  1. Hah! That’s not big. Report back when you’ve broken 250,000…

Meantime, squeeing with you, just for the companionship. Me, I have fifty pages to go, more or less (and I’m just at that stage where I have no idea whether it will be more, or less. I mean fewer, of course, but that loses the pun…).

Yay you, and many congrats. Now go get drunk, or whatever your personal bounce is; you have earned it, while we watched. It’s kind of a privilege, y’know, this LJ-thing of watching other people work…

If I ever write a book that big I think I’ll *cry*. :)

*laughs* I know that stage intimately. Chaaarge forth! How’s, er, I forgot his lj name, but the one you’re in a war with, doing? Who’s gonna win? :)

I actually love that aspect of LJ. Makes me feel like I’m not the only one out there, ya know? :)

    *beam* Thanks! *runs around gleefully!*

Actually, I kind of like it; I made 280,000 on a first draft once. But my current publishers get angsty at anything over 150,000, so I’m being good.

is my competitor/racemate, and I still think he’s going to win. We’ve both had fairly sticky weeks (just soooo much else to do, y’know?), but I think he’s fundamentally closer to the end than I am. Happily, it doesn’t matter; as said, it’s the kind of race where everybody wins. He just might get to win first, is all.

I do know, exactly. And the fact that I’ve written (nearly) two books this year is not at all unconnected. Indeed, it’s all about connectedness, finding yourself part of a community and wanting to keep up…

  4. Woohoo, congratulations! You kick ass and all those kinds of superlatives. Can’t wait to read it!

  5. yippee – yee haaaahhh

    congrations

so wheres the next one? (ducking quickly)

    Take care

  6. Hey, that grin is practically visible in Cork.

    366,600 words? Well done!

So when are you starting on the next one? (ducks)

  7. You need to go write another 100 words.. I mean can you really leave yourself with a number of 666 in the middle of your total wordcount? :)

Besides, that was only 3300 words from yesterday’s word count. Don’t you have more in you for the day?

But we’ll be nice and give you the congrats… ’cause you deserve it.

So now.. being that you’ve stated in the blog you past word counts and what you do to make yourself a professional writer. What do you do on days when you finish a project before you word count goal is done? Anything special? Do you give yourself a few more days before starting the revision process?

  8. I mean can you really leave yourself with a number of 666 in the middle of your total wordcount?

    Yes. :)

    *eyes you balefully*

  9. Woo woo, you totally rock! I’m thinking you’ll hit that yearly goal with ease. =)

  10. Excellent! Many, many huge congratulations and big hugs and squeeing and girly jumping up and down and that sort of thing.

    How did you celebrate?
