I haven’t forgotten my art project! I stayed up way too late finishing this Elfquest fan art last week, kind of to see if this entire project has helped any, and honestly? I think it has, at least some. I actually did a pretty good job on Moonshade’s face. Strongbow’s is too long and not wide enough, which is what I almost always do with Elfquest. I do not know how Wendy does it. She’s untouchable. But I’m really pleased with it. If only I could do it without copying,…

art project: 101 hours?
WHAT NEXT? :D So I’ve got four more Udemy courses, I think I mentioned that: “how to actually use clip studio paint in a functional way” manga character design/drawing manga more generalized character design superhero anatomy and… oh, no… …I went to Udemy to make sure I remembered what courses I’d gotten, and the two anatomy courses I’d been eyeing were on sale, along with a bunch of other things, and I accidentally bought a two-part anatomy class a gesture drawing course and a ‘how to draw everything’ course from…
art project: 100 Hours Wrapup
I’m declaring myself DONE with the (first?) hundred hours drawing project! I think I’ve improved some, less than it might seem from the outside – I regard a lot of what I’ve worked through to be reawakening old skills more than learning new things – but still, enough to be satisfied with. I’ve definitely improved on proportions and perspective, and I think I’ve also improved in my ability to see what I’m doing wrong, although the ability to then do it correctly seems to be lagging behind that awareness somewhat.…
art project: done vs good
I’ve realized that I’ve got two goals which are arguably antithetical to one another. :p Goal One, which has been in the forefront of my mind, is that I want to do my silly little web comic, which even I recognize I was good enough to DO before I started this 100 Hours project, even if I didn’t feel I was good ENOUGH by my own standards. But I’ve now drawn enough again that I feel like, ok, I probably CAN do it. Unfortunately, what I’ve realized is I also…
art project: materials
A few people have asked for this, and far be it from me to deny my audience :D First question: what course would I recommend for people who haven’t drawn in a really long time? Answer: Technically speaking, everything you could possibly want to learn is available for free somewhere on YouTube. I, however, lack the capacity to FIND all that material and not be overwhelmed by it, so I used courses that somebody else had put together. And yes, that does say courses, plural, because I can’t do anything…
