wish me luck

4800 words (or more) needed today. The idea is slightly overwhelming (I maintain 3K days better than 5K days over the distance). All encouraging comments will be met with love and gratitude.

eta: ok, after two hours and two hundred words, I need to figure out whether the problem is that I just don’ wanna, or if I’ve screwed up. Usually this kind of reluctance is a sign of having screwed up, but if I have I don’t know what the hell to *fix*. The obvious “this is the scene I’m not sure about” is one that I really think needs to be there, because otherwise even *I* lose sympathy for my main character. And if I have to go further back than that to fix it, I’ll…

…ok, I won’t actually kill myself, but *fuck*. And if I have to go back that far (I know where I’d have to go to), what the hell do I put in its place so the scenario as written can be stricken? *Argh*.

I better wake Ted up. I need his brain. :P

  1. Go, girl, you *can* do it. Think this way – do over 5K and it’ll be longer before you need another such day.

  2. You can do it – it’s just putting your mind to it. And remember you get a nice treat if you get more than 5k written today.

  3. I know you can do it. Besides, this isn’t a distance, it’s just a wee little sprint.

  4. Demonstrably, you can do it. You’re almost the only one of us who can, day to day. Therefore it is your duty to do it, to keep up the average for the rest of us slackers!

Here is an icon of an encouraging teddy bear, to serve as an example.

Myself, I was going to give me five days to rewrite a 350-page book – only I’ve just had an urgent proofreading job dropped into my lap, so I guess that five days is about to become seven. Sigh…

  5. I hope you manage to figure out what the problem is with the story and you quickly get back on track!

  6. Go back and work out your key scene. You can sort it out. Clearly that’s what’s bothering you.

  7. You can do it!

    I know you can.

Also, perahps consider writing the scene as/where it is. I have this notion that I’ll only come to the clever solution for the plot problem AFTER I’ve spend the trouble and keystrokes to tap out two (or six) stupid fixes. It’s my fate. It might not be yours, though. :)

  8. I also have that problem of stalling out because I’m doing something wrong, and it usually takes me a while to figure it out and then admit it, mostly because it feels like such a big step back. But then, always, sweeping out the stuff that doesn’t work ends up coming as such a big relief.

    Good luck!!!

  9. You’re gonna do just fine! (yeppers, found you on LJ too…… hehehehe) for what it’s worth I think you’re pretty incredible!
