V. proud of myself. Got 2/3rds of the way through the manuscript with little revisiony things (it is of course in the last 3rd (which is really the third quarter) that the real work needs to be done, but well, hell, at least I got that far) and went for a walk, upon which I saw and her father. We greeted each other briefly and then went our separate ways. My separate way happened upon the Cork Fire Brigade sucking water (via a hose) out of the river and then spitting it back in. Donno what that was about. :)

This week I have been reminding myself that cutting my hair will not 1. finish this book, 2. make me lose 15 pounds, or 3. prepare me to do an excellent Rogue costume if I manage to go to Comicon next summer. Also, I am quite sure that it is morally inferior to admire anything having to do with Victoria Beckham, but I can’t help it, I really do like her haircut.

  1. The fire brigade thing is odd but they do that a lot. I think it is to test the hoses as they usually do a bunch of other equipment checks as well. The kids in the playground love it and once DD was allowed to go explore inside the cab. How cool was that – unfortunately I was not with her that day but Mr Wol came home with a grin a mile wide and a real little-boy gleam in his eyes.

  2. Congratulations on making it 2/3 of the way through.

As for your hair, while you have identified 3 things that a new haircut will not do, that leaves a nearly infinite universe of things that may happen if you give in to your urges. After all, if a butterfly’s wings can give us a storm, surely a new haircut is an even more powerful force to be reckoned with.

  3. That hair style is FAR too much effort. Can you do it in under ten minutes at a convention while moderately hung over and/or lacking in sleep? Without a shelf-load of product? No? Fuggedaboutit.

  4. Ah ha! I have succeeded in passing off the Compulsive Hair Disorder to one of its old favorites!

And all it took was cutting another five inches off my hair and putting in “celtic copper” highlights. :)

Though, I noticed how after two visits to the salon to complete that process, none of the homework I was avoiding was magically done.

  5. Actually, having had haircuts quite similar to that, it’s really not that much effort at all, and because it’s so short, yeah, it can easily be done in ten minutes…

  6. Oooh. This one, she is dangerous, young padawan. Do not listen to her evil words, tempting and coated with honey as they may be!

  7. if you feel like obsessing over hair you could find a cut that would work well for me – other than skinhead…

  8. Yay you for revisioning!

I am somehow still satisfied with my hair, more or less, in its black and bobbed state, although I think I’m going to go in to have the angle re-cut before heading home for the holidays. This may be the first time in my adult life I haven’t felt the symptoms of CHD, so it’s a little weird. o.O

Also: if you make it to Comicon, I will do my damndest to do so as well, as I’ve lamented every year that I’ve never been. Because I can think of few things more fun than running around a con with you, geeking to the extreme.
