smart phones

Okay, I’ve talked myself into a smartphone, but I don’t know much about them. Here’s what I want in a phone; I’m sure somebody out there can tell me what phone I want. :)

– a better-than-smartphone-average camera
– either a qwerty keyboard or a highly convincing explanation as to how touchscreens are easy enough to use that a qwerty’s not necessary
– good battery life (not having to charge it every night would be nice)
– wifi

From *looking* at the phones, possibly a Blackberry with a slide-out keyboard is what I’m after. But possibly someone with more smartphone experience can tell me otherwise.

  1. Nothing compares to the functionality of the iPhone. I’m a bit of a tech geek, and quite particular; I’ve used BBs, HPs, and now the iPhone. Touchscreens just take time. While I still prefer the QWERY keyboard on my iPAQ hw6500 to the onscreen one on the iPhone 4, I prefer *everything* else about the iPhone – 5MP camera with HD video and excellent sound, great apps, ability to sync and share across platforms, etc. Happy shopping!

  2. I have to say that I love my CrackBerry. It’s actually got a nicely intuitive OS, and none of that learning finger gestures crud that comes with the iPhone. I found an iPhone in a WalMart bathroom and looked through to text someone that I found the phone and was turning it in to Customer Service and was lost in short order. I’m sure if I had a bit and a manual, I could figure it out, but if it takes a manual, meh.
