I just got called up by the electric company who said they’d sent out an application for our account there to be a joint account (only Ted’s name was on it, for reasons that I fail to understand in the first place) and I never got the application and said well could you send another one and he said yes but if you don’t send it back we’re going to turn your power off.

I’m like … but Ted still /has/ the account there under his name, why would you change it until you got an application back?

Apparently they change it to a joint account immediately instead of leaving it as a single name account, and if they dn’t get the signed application back within 15 days they cancel the account and turn your power off.
