Just a quick note to say the Magick 4 Terri auction, supporting editor/author/artist Terri Windling, closes in about 24 hours. The “Get your own CE Murphy short story as a Christmas present!” commission is at $350, which I might say is a bargain. The middle grade fantasy novel I just wrote has sold out at $100, is resting at $250 for the second (set of all 4 books, sent to you as I write them!), and lies untouched for the third auction, where you can get the first book for…

So…
…if I was to put a copy or three of this middle-grade fantasy novel I’ve just written up on the Terri Windling auction, would people be interested in that? ’cause I’m not even planning to give this to my agent until I’ve finished the series, but people are asking when they get to read it, so I thought maybe I’d offer a chance. Be one of ten people to read it (that’s all the Lulu.com copies I’m having printed), like. Probably I’d set it up as something like bid whatever…
thinks to do
With any kind of luck this is the last significant Thinks list of the year… by Thursday/Saturday: – revision pass on older nephew’s book – put together Gryphon Beach Tales book for younger nephew – write “Don’t Wreck Your Soul” – write the next Kickstarter short story – do BABA YAGA’S DAUGHTER proofs by end-of-year: – write the Terri Windling short story commission – get as much as possible done on the ElectriCity script – get Easy Pickings up on Amazon etc Right now that short story commission–I will write…

I’ve finished the book for my nephew. It came in at 70K, pretty much as expected. (I was aiming for 60, but hit what I thought was the halfway point at 35, so…yeah. 70 it is.) This is the first book I’ve written without a synopsis in six years. I’m a lot better at writing without a synopsis than I was last time I tried. :) It was kind of fun, and I’ll probably do the same with the other books when I write them, but yeah–I actually only realized…
look! people are buying it!
People are buying “Easy Pickings!” I realize that’s kind of the whole idea, but having previously only sold internet stuff long before I wrote it, this is very exciting! I’ve earned out my half of the cover art costs, which is…well, I mean, really, other than time, that’s our only cost. So I’m into the profit zone now. It’s not huge amounts of profit, but on the other hand, the thing’s been on sale slightly less than 12 hours, and we’re not posting it on Amazon/B&N/Smashwords til Friday, probably. (At…
