I actually got up this morning and swam. And then I walked home. I’m so proud of myself! :) I only did 1500 meters (my, the difference between a meter pool and a yard pool is significant, even if it’s not much), but 1500’s not too bad for my first time swimming in months. The pool was ungodly hot, really genuinely hotter than necessary even to keep little kids from turning blue, but it may be (if the people who were there are any indicator) that I’m the only person…

sports, science fiction, and the state of america
At thirty-six, like most professional athletes, Andre Agassi is, by the standards of his occupation, an old man. I don’t know how many of you are following the US Open in tennis this week. Probably not many. But most of you do read science fiction, and that’s actually what I’m thinking about while I’m on the topic of Andre Agassi. The US Open is Agassi’s swan song. I did, however, walk all over hell and breakfast trying to find bittersweet chocolate in Cobh and completely failed. My sister’s birthday cake will have to be semi-sweet chocolate instead of bittersweet. Somehow I think she’ll survive. :)…
WOOT!
Against all expectation, the leisure centre pool is open in the *mornings*! 7:30-9am on MWF. I’m going to arrange for a cab to pick me up at 7am MWF so I have no excuse to not go, and WOOT! I’m all excited! Must find all my swim stuff and get it together! *runs around, runs around*! They’ve got evening swimming as well, but I’d rather swim in the mornings. My thought for the moment is to swim 3x a week through September and then maybe start weights on alternate days…
