huh.

Ok. Got through the book once. I actually feel like I’ve got a story here. That’s nice. Don’t think I’ll work on it more today, ’cause Ted has the evening off (at least in theory) and maybe we can watch some TV on DVD together before he collapses, poor guy. Anyway, the work, she is cut out for me, but it doesn’t look too arduous (except for the part where using my brain the way it’s necessary to for these books is difficult), so I should be more or less…

Ok, there’ve been two scenes so far that I’d more or less forgotten about that when I read them I thought, hey, that’s pretty good, and I just now turned a page and read a scene end and went “OOH! I’m printing out HOUSE OF CARDS to do edits on it. In skimming veryveryquickly as I put all the separate chapters together, I become reluctantly willing to concede that there may be *something* salvageable in this book. I am always surprised by this moment. No one else is, but I always am. Colorist is hired. I’ve found a letterer, too. It looks like we’re very probably on for an October 1 submission date. Wow. *boggle* snikily sent me “Anne of a Thousand Days”, which she says I must watch and…

Wow.

I am completely astounded at the number of thoughtful responses I got on that colors posting. You guys all *rock*. That was really, really cool to read and think about. My own choice is the just-barely-favored #2, for a lot of the reasons that have been ennumerated. It pays more attention to actual lighting sources, the depth and shading is good, and I love the night sky behind her (it works *so* well with the next page, too!). My second favorite is #5, with #6 in there at just about…
