I know I’ve been all about the Kickstarter, and you’ve been very patient with me. Thank you. Very soon now I’ll shut up about it. And I promise all I’ll say today is that I forgot to say yesterday that the second novella is almost certainly going to be about Billy and Melinda, since they’re the second-most-asked-for characters after Gary. :)
In the meantime, all I’ve been doing is baking and writing. I mean, really, that’s all I’ve been doing. (And eating what I’ve been baking, so my bum is approximately the size of Toledo.) Ted’s work is having an International Baking Day today, so I whipped up a batch of chocolate chip cookies last night, since they’re quintessentially American (and easier to dole out to a lot of people than apple pie).
I’m still desperately behind on Nanowrimo, but less desperately than I was a couple days ago, thanks to Mom The Super Babysitter. I’m about 11.5K in, which is only 5K behind. I think I could catch up this weekend, except I have a short story due Monday and that sort of needs to get done, so I’ll end up more behind after the weekend than I am now. But I think I’ve got my feet under me for the story now, and boy, it’s totally unnatural to me to have the girl as a sidekick (the ALLY, Fred said, not the sidekick! and that’s actually very true, but anyway) instead of the lead. I rather like my lead boy, who is clever rather than strong or magically powerful, and who in the first few chapters has made his mortal enemy look good, saved the city, and changed his fate by listening to others. But the girl is bold and it’s natural to me to make her the lead, so it’s an interesting experiment in writing!
Off to try to clean the kitchen now.
