bwahah! loot!

Besides the books I made off with from my editors (all three of which Del Rey books I’ve now read) I did hit a bookstore or two while in the States. sent the box over, and it just arrived. Bwahah. ‘s SEA CHANGE, ‘s CAST IN SECRET, ‘s CURSOR’S FURY, ‘s BLOOD AND IRON, ‘s Night Shade Books’ THE DEMON AND THE CITY (Liz Williams, who has an LJ but I don’t know it off the top of my head) and THE ALGEBRAIST (Iain M. Banks, and boy am I a sucker, because I wanted to pick something of his up and there were plenty of mass market choices, but nooOOooo, there was the Night Shade Books TPB and I like the Night Shade guys, and so I bought their book instead of one of the cheaper ones, so boy, I better like it!), John Scalzi‘s OLD MAN’S WAR, Carol Berg‘s FLESH AND SPIRIT (her first trade! she was excited! and nervous! and I like her writing very much, and hope the book does well, so bought it in trade), CS Friedman‘s FEAST OF SOULS (and now I will stop linking to author sites because those were the ones I knew off the top of my head), John C. Wright’s FUGITIVES OF CHAOS (YA, kind of, and sequel to ORPHANS OF CHAOS, which was really pretty good), Connie Willis’s TO SAY NOTHING OF THE DOG (which 2345092870 people have told me I should read), Christopher Priest’s THE PRESTIGE (which I hear is better than the movie, and the movie was damned good), and, oh, I lied, one more link, Alistair Reynold‘s REVELATION SPACE.

And after all that, I failed to pick up YSABEL, by Guy Gavriel Kay. Dammit. Thank goodness we’re going back to the States in November. :)

I’d better go get some work done so I can *read* something!

Uh, there is a UK edition…?

  2. Mm, me too. Which is how I come to know that there is a hardback. Granted that Amazon or other postal shopping is less fun than handing over money and carrying the prize home, it is still an option.

Not, I confess, that I’ve done either thus far. He has been my criterion, for historical fantasy; but this is contemporary, and I’ve seen some rude reviews, and I dunno, I just haven’t been urgent about it…

    AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!

  4. iainbanks.com is for the computer artist Iain (Ashley) Banks.
iainbanks.net is for the author Iain (Menzies) Banks.

  5. I’m rarely urgent about books these days because it usually takes me so damned long to get around to reading them it doesn’t seem like there’s much point. V. sad, really.
