Yes, I’m a little obsessed. Move on if you do not share my obsession. :) I went into Evans today. Evans is a shop which has clothes starting at size 12, and which claims to carry wide shoes. I have been shopping. Make no mistake. I do not care for shopping. My idea of an ideal shopping experience is to walk into the first available store, see the perfect item, try it on and be out of there in five minutes. This has happened to me exactly once in my life, so you may extrapolate my general feelings on shopping from there. That said, it was a relatively successful shopping experience. fashion

In wandering through the shops recently, looking at all the diaphanous, flowing, meant-to-be-layered and untailored fashions which looks good on the very young and sylph-like and on no one else, I found myself thinking “Forget fashion. Can’t we try *style*?” Now I want to start a classic clothes fashion line with that tag line. “Forget fashion. Embrace style.” Of course, as Ted said, I’d be in direct competition with J. Peterman, but that’s not the point. :)

The J Peterman coat is splendid. The skirt is, unexpectedly, too big (go me, I guess!). The shirt is not flattering, but that was a long shot anyway. So the skirt and shirt go back and the coat goes on. :)
