…that’s kind of a decent Rogue wig. Of course, now I’m going to have to make a costume (in, you know, my copious free time), because it’s one thing to wear my hair like that and something else to actually spend money on a wig.

SPIRIT DANCES teaser!
FRIDAY, MARCH 17, 8:34 A.M. “Walker, Holliday, you’re up. Homicide in Ballard, probably domestic violence. Be there yesterday.” A set of sedan keys flew across the room at my head. I caught them painlessly, only because I’d just come in the door and hadn’t yet taken my gloves off. The guy who’d thrown them at me—our lieutenant, Braxton, who was decent, hardworking, and who never impinged on my consciousness for a single moment beyond those I spent following his direct commands—jerked his jaw at the door, indicating we should already…
horse books
I’ve got a question from a reader: “What books do you recommend for almost-12-yr-olds who are really smart but only read horse books?” I’ve already got Mercedes Lackey’s Valdemar (particularly the Arrows books to start with), Caitlin Brennan’s HOUSE OF THE STAR in particular, Robin McKinley’s THE BLUE SWORD, and I’m thinkin’ maybe Anne McCaffrey’s Harper Hall trilogy, although fire lizards are not *technically* horses. :) What am I missing, I asked gleefully, because there is nothing so much fun as asking LJ for book recommendations. *beams*

That’s my goal, anyway, so I’ll set a delivery deadline of July 1, 2011. Here’s the catch: I may close the commission as early as April 14, 3 months from now, if I get it done by then. I may give 24 hours’ notice about it closing, or I may not. I’ll…
Inheritors’ Cycle update
I’ve had a number of people ask over the past couple of years whether there would be more books about Belinda and Javier (THE QUEEN’S BASTARD, THE PRETENDER’S CROWN). I finally have an update about that, and the answer is, “Not for the foreseeable future.” This is a business decision, not a lack of enthusiasm. The people who have contacted me about the Inheritors’ Cycle have loved it, as do I, as does my publisher. But let me try to explain what happens in the life cycle of a book…
