memes and line edits

Line edits for HANDS OF FLAME have been sent off. The end of the book has been revised to vast improvement, aligning much more closely now with my original vision of it, and I’m really pretty happy with it. There are a couple of stages left, but the book is very close to publish_ok now, and I am very very happy about that. It does mean I’m going to have to face the 70,000 word bugbear in the room now, though. Let’s see. Oh! Apparently HOUSE OF CARDS is going…

My agent rocks.

I haven’t yet posted about Match It For Pratchett because I’m easily distracted by bright shiny objects, but I have been meaning to. best friends evar :)

I have the best, and funniest, friends in the world. Trent sent me a care package filled with the things I’d asked for–hairspray, dental floss, toothpaste, ibuprofen, books (oh lordy, the books! The Great Plot Synopsis Project

A couple of weeks ago I got email from Joshua Palmatier inviting me to participate in the Great Plot Synopsis Project, wherein he was asking a bunch of published writers to post a book synopsis in order to help show aspiring writers how they’re done. (Joshua keeps having good ideas like this and then *following through on them*. I think he’s an alien.) I have blatantly stolen the Synopsis Q&A Joshua posted in the entry that inspired this cross-posting of synopses by published novelists. I have stolen it ’cause it’s…

Happy Saint Patrick’s Day!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day! It’s been a long busy day here. I spent the morning working on (blessedly uncomplicated) line edits, and then went to the St. Patrick’s Day parade, where I watched just enough of the parade (ie, about 3 minutes) to determine that Military Kit was not amongst the army folk, and then I slipped away from the barrier and spent the next couple hours going up and down Patrick Street taking lots of pictures. A sampling: I took a picture of a guy with a microphone, who…
