any dream will do

So I actually got caught by a reality show. They’re doing a series called Any Dream Will Do over here. It’s presided over by Andrew Lloyd Webber, and its purpose is to cast a leading man for Joseph & the Technicolor Dreamcoat on the West End. (Last year they did “How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria” and cast Maria for The Sound of Music. Apparently it’s doing very well.) I caught the first episode because it was on after Doctor Who, and while I haven’t seen an episode…

pirates!

We just got back from Pirates III a little while ago. I went in with rather lowered expectations after reading some reviews, but to my surprise and delight, I totally enjoyed it. ow.

I’ve done something* to my upper back, so that much of anything that’s not done with perfect posture–say, crouching or bending to take a memory stick from the computer–is breathtakingly owie. I was desperately wrong. It was not cool. It was *fantastic*. All right, first off I must confess that the lead dancer, Ángel Muñoz, looked like a Spanish cross between Peter Wingfield and Neil Gaiman, so basically I could’ve sat there and watched him do absolutely nothing for hours on end. However, he could also *dance*.…

zilli update

Well, Zilli broke two toes clean through and is in a cast for six weeks or possibly more and is extremely unhappy, but, as the vet said, also very lucky. He’s lugging this little cast around and meowing, and he’s not supposed to go up and down stairs because he could knock the cast loose. We need a baby gate. We’re also supposed to make very sure he doesn’t lick a lot, because the padding under the cast is cotton and could, if it gets wet enough, swell up and…
