Picoreview: the Silver Surfer is worth the price of admission, especially if you go to a cheap show, as we did. But _man_ those were some cool effects. That was exactly what the Surfer should look (and sound) like. Rawr.
Other than that, better than the first movie (and shorter), still not a great movie (though it would’ve been improved by not putting poor Jessica Alba in those awful, awful contacts and that awful, awful wig) but I enjoyed it, and did I mention Silver Surfer = rawr? ’cause, rawr.
My favorite bit was just before the wedding, and I’ll let you all figure out which bit it was when you see it. :)
So definitely worth going to see? Yay! But most importantly, how was Johnny Storm? Hee!
Well, I went for the special effects, and with the exception of one scene (not a Surfer scene), wasn’t disappointed. So if you’re going for that, you’ll be happy. :) And I’m a pretty cheap date when to comes to movies. I don’t generally go to movies because I’m expecting Meaningful Art or anything. I go for sheer entertainment. And I was pretty entertained by FF2, so. :)
Johnny was not as funny as he was in the first movie, I thought! But he was still pretty funny, and he had some kind of nice little character development moments (some of which were overplayed, but eh). Plus, there’s a towel scene. You can’t go wrong with a towel scene. :)
I still think that the Silver Surfer standee they have in the lobby of the Century Theatre makes him look like a bowling trophy.
Towel scene? Oh, there’s my money’s worth right there.:)
Was it a dangerously low-slung towel? :)
In fact, yes. :)
I liked the towel scene, too! ;) *waves*
Favorite part, that must be where somebody – maybe Johnny – gets hit in the face so his nose swells up really big?
(I’ll see it one of these days, likely after Pirates.)
