foist woids

I’ll be durned. I wrote today. Not very much, and it took about two hours of solitaire to get started (I really should take that off the computer), but they’re the first words of the year. :)

‘course, I hate this part of the ytd wordcount, the stuff before 10K. It looks so pathetic and lonely. Poor lil’ numbers. *snif*

ytd wordcount: 1100
miles to Dunharrow: 37

  1. In the beginning was the word – poor, under-rated, little, under-10K word that it was.

I did laundry and it took me a few goes at solitaire to face that. i thin you win by quite a lot!

  2. Hi – friended you a while ago but haven’t really commented before.

Do you tend to keep what you write, editing as you go along, or is it always vastly different to what you end up with?

  3. I can’t remember who (ooh…big surprise), but I once read an author’s dedication that included thanks to Minesweeper for making the book take rather longer than it should have.

    You are not alone. :)

  4. *laughs*!

Dude. I thought you were because of your icon. Don’t go around confusing me like that!

  5. Hello! Welcome! Nice to meet you! What brings you here? :)

The only book I’ve ever written that in its too-be-published form is vastly different from the original is HEART OF STONE, which got rewritten massively three times and which is now completely different except for the story, which is still the same. :) There was one significant change made in URBAN SHAMAN that really changed the book and the world it was set in, but interestingly, I don’t ultimately consider that to make it vastly different from its original form. It was an important difference, but not one that makes the book unrecognizeable.

I do some editing as I go along, then print the whole thing out and do revisions. There’s a whole lil’ article about my process here, if you want to read it. :)

  6. Uhm.

    *goes to look*

“Folly; it was folly to linger here and learn her body, to claim her in hopes of finding a way to keep the promise he’d wanted to make in the first moments they’d spoken in her office.”

    Hey, you asked. :)

I wrote other stuff before that, editing bits, but I don’t remember where, and that’s where I picked up the story, so there ya go. :)

  7. I know! You could keep adding your poor, pathetic, lonely lil’ numbers to last year’s numbers, since it isn’t (Chinese) New Year yet. Then, on February 18 you can switch over, but by then you should have a decent number, so they won’t look so pathetic and lonely. :)

  8. Interesting. I once sat down in front of the computer and typed “This is folly.” In trying to find out who said it and why, I realized some twenty thousand words later that I was writing a novel.

  9. What brings you here? :)

I think it was one of those procrastination, look at a friend of a friend of a friend things, and I liked your writing.
