ghost of fish chowders past

i had big plans for today. i was gonna get up and swim, then come home and write, and maybe go for a walk this afternoon. instead, at 2 or so in the morning, the Ghost of Fish Chowders Past came to visit, and the next several hours were something of a pyrotechnic nightmare. at least, i think it was the GoFCP; it’s about the only thing in the last couple days i’ve eaten that ted hasn’t, and it may’ve had scallops or something in it. it was Very Fishy in flavor, which at the time i thought was nice, but not so much now.

i’ve spent most of the day doing one groggy thing or another. took a bath to try to de-ache myself some. took some aspirin to try to de-ache myself some. watched an episode of highlander. couldn’t stand how much effort that took, so followed it up with a two hour nap. i’ve now had a single bite of raisin bran and the rest of the bowl is sitting here in front of me turning to mush.

bleh.

(eta: my wonderful husband went to get me some ginger ale and flatbread biscuits (saltine-like crackers, for those of you in the States), and now i am nibbling them and starting to feel better. yay for ted!)

  1. Ouch, sympathies. Get well quick. (I also hear there’s a stomach virus going around, though I’m not savvy enough to tell the difference between that and GoFCP.)

  2. Hmm – my understanding is that bad shellfish tend to kick back quickly, so there’s really no question about the source of the trouble. If the chowder was a couple of days back, I would probably argue for its innocence.

On the other hand – you’re sick! I’m sorry you’re sick. And glad you have a Ted to tend you.

  3. Erk. Hope you feel better soon. And next time, make Ted check things before you eat them. :)
