go sarah!

Ok, that was fun.

is participating in this Avon Books sponsored contest (her post about it is here), and last week made it into the top 100 and this week made it into the top 10 in the contest. So I trundled over to the site to read the top ten entries and vote.

But the best bit was I didn’t know which one was hers. I narrowed it down to three out of the ten just by reading the excerpts, and I was *pretty* sure I knew which one was hers from the remaining three, and I genuinely thought that one was the best of the lot. The other two that might’ve been hers were also worthy, but it was a turn of phrase in the one that made me think it was hers.

I was right. *smug dance* I seriously doubt anybody else could’ve picked hers out of the lineup, but I think it’s probably safe to say that the only person who has observed her writing development more closely over the last, oh, decade+, is herself. Go on over there. Vote for the best story! It’s Sarah’s! :)

Hers is “The Lady’s Not For Petting”. I personally thought the other genuinely worthwhile entry was “The Lady’s Favor”, but I thought Sarah’s was better.

Not that I’m biased or anything. But I thought it before I knew which one was hers! :)

  1. Hey there,

Sorry to invade your comments space, but as a huge fan of your books, I was a little worried when I heard that Lunar Books is now cutting down on its Fantasy range. Is your next book going to be published? Please, please say yes – I have read on a mailing list that Lunar is concentrating on Urban Fantasy, so I am hoping that this is a huge green light for you!

    Thanks,

    -K.

  2. My comments space is open to invasion! :)

Indeed, COYOTE DREAMS, the next book in the Walker Papers, is on schedule to be published next year. I also have a second urban fantasy series called The Old Races Trilogy coming out from Luna at the end of 2007/early 2008, and a whole new series starting from Del Rey, the first book of which is THE QUEEN’S BASTARD. :)
