The boots *fit*!

The Cavalio riding boots and the Cadiz homina homina homina boots came today, and both pair *fit*! They not only fit my calves, which I expected, but they fit my fat feet, which I didn’t really think there was much chance of. I put them on wearing my regular ol’ socks, figuring maybe if they ALMOST fit in those they’d fit in nylons. But I could actually *wear* regular socks and it’d be fine. With *both* pair! Both pair zip up, which isn’t actually evident from the website, but which doesn’t especially surprise me, and they’ve got a clever stretchy bit built into the top six inches of the calf (oh my god the calves on those things are hyoog) that gives an extra inch of play to the calves, easy. Maybe an inch and a half. I could’ve ordered slightly smaller calf sizes (my calves at their widest are 42 centimters, so I ordered 43 centimeter calves on the ones that didn’t come in 42s) and not gone wrong, but they FIT and there is no circulation cut off or anything! It’s amazing!

In the Cadizes, I am Just Fractionally Taller than Ted. Just Barely. Like an eight of a centimeter or something. But taller. We were both kinda like O.O :) I put them on and stood up and he stared and said, “Do you have any idea how intimidating you’ll be in those boots?” I wouldn’t want to go on long walks in them, or stand around all day in them, but they’re *wearable*, which is pretty amazing.

I can wear the riding boots either under or over my jeans. You have no idea how mind-boggling that is. And the heel is perfectly reasonable, not high at all, so I’ll be able to walk in them. Wow. This is like Christmas! :)

*Furthermore*, we went up to Dublin yesterday and Mom and I found some fabric to make a long coat that I can wear with my Difficult Skirt with. (That was a poorly constructed sentence.) It’s loose-weave cream colored wool and will be this pattern, in the cream-colored 6-button length, but with the camel-colored cut. (We couldn’t find enough fabric to make it in the camel-colored length. I’m all excited about the prospect. Of course, if it gets made before next year it’ll be a miracle. (Actually, I’m hoping to make it next month. That’d be extra neat!) :)

(And, , I’m thinking of using that pattern for your Coat of Many Colors, when I get to it. What would you think of that? Classic lines, can’t go wrong with that, with a base of probably of cream or white canvas and then an overlay of rainbowed silk. And an interior satin lining perhaps dyed to match whichever of the silk colors is your favorite!)

(I also want to make one of these military-cut coats, which would be a lot cheaper than buying a Bon Jovi version of the same basic cut. :))
