…I have an extremely good agent. Perhaps I need to make some fudge.
(eta: …ooh. Making fudge would give me an excuse to use the new mixer. Ours died (in large part because its poor little soul was not meant to make marshmallow creme), so when Ted said, “Maybe you could pick up a new mixer,” I went and bought one of these, brought it home, assembled it on the kitchen table, and left a note: “I bought a mixer! o.o” with it. :)), and there’s nothing like marshmallow creme to break in a new one, right? O.O)
and there’s nothing like marshmallow creme to break in a new one, right?
LOL – tough stuff, that marshmallow. You’ll have to post what you think of the mixer, once you’ve used it for awhile. I am a cooking enthusiast, and I’ve always been a staunch Kitchenaid fan for stand mixers. But I’m also always interested in kitchen gadget reviews, and I would say a stand mixer/blender combo qualifies as a kitchen gadget. :)
Making fudge for your agent is a very good idea.
Very, very good.
I suspect you, sir, may have ulterior motives in believing so!
Hey, are you still practicing the tin whistle? I picked one up a little while ago (my agent told me I needed a hobby) and I’m trying to learn!
I have an extremely good agent. Perhaps I need to make some fudge.
Those two sentences go so well together.
You are very good at making fudge. And jam. *g*
Also, mixers that don’t get used are sad. My KitchenAid says so. Now I must contemplate baking this weekend. Can I bake and read manuscripts at the same time?
I have *got* to do something about making jam! I miss making jam! Even more, I miss *eating* jam. :)
You can bake and read manuscripts at the same time! Just don’t put ingredients together while you’re reading. In my experience that turns into very bad baking. :) But then there’s all that lovely time while things are baking when you can read to the smell of yumminess emanating from the oven!
*giggles* Adorable icon. :)
I could’ve bought a KitchenAid for almost three times as much as the Kenwood was! I decided not to. :)
Isn’t it? I have a couple of ‘too adorable’ cat icons. :)
Yeah, they can be expensive – you can get a refurbished one (these are pretty much brand new – between friends and family, I’ve seen four different “reconditioned” mixers, and you couldn’t have told a difference between them and brand new) for about half the price of new, directly from Kitchenaid, or sometimes Amazon gets them in, though color choice on those is more limited.
Not that it helps you now. But if something ever goes wrong with the new mixer…
Absolutely! I’ve baked and written at the same time before. :) Well, once the baked goods in question were in the oven. Be sure to set a timer, though, in case you get sucked in to something and, er, forget the cookies, until an unmistakable burning smell overtakes the yummy smell. Not that I speak from experience. No, indeed.
She lives!

It has been a while…
I suspect you, sir, may have ulterior motives in believing so!
Harumph! [even though it’s true]
Hey, are you still practicing the tin whistle? I picked one up a little while ago (my agent told me I needed a hobby) and I’m trying to learn!
Well, I was still learning and practicing my whistle….and then a kind person gave me an Irish flute (which, despite the name, is not actually from Ireland) for my birthday a couple of months ago! Which has left my whistles feeling mostly lonely and sad. :( I still pull them out every now and then because it’s nice to reassure myself that I can actually play a tune, and because they seem so darned easy to play after struggling through working on my damned embrochure. I need to find a balance in the insufficient time I devote to practicing for both the flute and the whistles though, because they’re fun and I don’t want to abandon them.
And good on you for giving the tin whistle a try! What’re you using for learning? I’ve tried a couple of the tutorial book/CDs, and some of the stuff on the web is pretty darned useful too.
Making lasagna and writing however, is not something I’d recommend.
Particularly while making the filling. To cite a perfectly random example, er, um … tonight I did remember to brown the turkey, but I threw it and the tomato sauce in with the ricotta and mozzarella and mixed them up instead of keeping them separate. I realized this (and that I’d forgotten the spinach) after the lasagna came out of the oven.
It was very pink, but edible.
Speaking of this magic fudge you make, have you shared the recipe somewhere? I am interested in the idea of marshmallow creme and fudge. And I like fudge and I am not the greatest as making it.
Side note: I am reading you on bloglines and then come to comment and shmoo says..”is that *mizkit* mizkit?” Me: “yes, honey, I told you I read her blog.” Him: “oh yeah, she’s really nice.” Was he always this oblivious?
Recipe posted! Mind you, it’s a lot easier to buy marshmallow creme at the store than go through all the trouble of making it. :)
*laughs* What other mizkit would it be, I ask you? Tell him hi, even if he’s a little fuzzy-brained. :)
Bah Humbug.
love,
shmoo
