Yesterday, in case you missed it, was Blog Like It’s The Zombie Apocalypse Day.
“Zombies attacked. Finished the #*$&^#^ book and got light revision letter for TQB. Good day.”
I think she’s basically got it right. :)
That was not at all what I was going to post about, but I got such a kick out of it it trumped everything else I’d been going to say. :) Most critically (as I’m sure you’ll all agree), I have gotten my hairs trimmed, and they are all basically the same length now, and it is a great relief.
Trying to work this morning was a bit of a comedy of errors. I went and got the manuscript and discovered it was not the one I’d written notes on, which meant the annotated one had probably been thrown out. Crap. Well, I’d need to print out the second half of the manuscript anyway, because I haven’t read it on paper yet, so I formatted it and printed it.
Except I didn’t have enough paper to print the second half. Damn. Well, oh well, at least I could go over the first half. I went downstairs to get comfortable and do that.
There, on the floor, where I left it ten days ago, was the manuscript with the notes on it.
…doh!
I got about a whole chapter and a half worked on before I had to go into town to have lunch with Ted, after all of that. :)
Whilst in town, I walked into Virgin Records to have a look around. Five steps inside the door I found a new Bon Jovi CD. I didn’t know Bon Jovi’d put out a new CD. I picked it up and turned directly around and went to the cash registers, because I figured if I found something I didn’t know I wanted 5 steps into the store, that was a sign I *really* should not go further in. :)
And, apropos of nothing, I watched “Blazing Saddles” last night for the first time in fifteen or more years. It’s still a very funny movie. :)
I was surprised by how much the race stuff in Blazing Saddles still felt dangerous and hilarious because of it.
You know if I had advanced warning for the whole zombie apocalypse day I might have joined in. Because then I would have just blogged on as usual, but with zombies.
or I would have posted my entries from September 12, 2001. That was a fun day in blogging.
If you get TCM then you can watch Blazing Saddles pretty much every weekend as far as I can tell. It is a funny movie. However the first time I saw it was in the cinema (my parents had to sneak me in pretending I was 14!!) the film broke in the middle of the canteen food fight just when a pie was lobbed at the camera. That was so much better as an ending that I don’t usually bother to to watch the last ten minutes of the original.
Excellent summary of Zombie Apocalypse Day. I had missed this totally and first came across it on‘s blog and just really, really hoped that she was just off her meds. I think that probably counts as me being suckered.
“Blazing Saddles” is an awesome movie. I still need to pick it up on DVD. Curious… did you watch the “full” version where it takes more than one gimmick to catch a Mongo? They never seem to play that cut on TV, and the VCR version didn’t have that scene and a handful of others I remember from way back when.
I have the Bon Jovi disc on order for my wife (who thinks that she is Jon’s wife…)
Uh, Catie?
Blazing Saddles is one of those movies that they wouldn’t be able to make today. The political correctness police would be all over it and they’d have to make serious cuts.
I love the scene where the new sheriff says “Excuse me while I whip this out” and all the ladies scream. It always breaks me up.
“Zombies attacked. Finished the #*$&^#^ book and got light revision letter for TQB. Good day.”
Shouldn’t there be something about “cat exploded” in there? :)
Otherwise, yes, that sounds just about right. Possibly with a later update to say that Ted heroically whacked the zombie trying to get into his kitchen with a frying pan, and the souffle in the oven remained light and fluffy because he is just that cool.
(which reminds me, there’s a thread on Scalziblog right now addressing the question “When, if ever, will David Bowie stop being so damn cool?”
So far, the majority opinion seems to be “At the time of the heat death of the universe. At that point, the rest of the universe will be at least as cool as David Bowie.” ) I can go with that. :)
