off to dublin!

I am off to Dublin in an hour or so. Don’t quite know when I’ll have access again (hopefully early next week, though I can always pop over to my sister’s and use her internets), so see you when we’re back!

  1. May you have a smooth and uneventful move! Having a wee one and being near family is a wonderful combination – even though the ‘wee one’ that grew up in that kind of situation is 27 this month – and the current kidlet in the house is 9 next month. It truly does make things both easier/less stressful and somewhat harder (only at rare times when you just don’t want the added family in your face).
We lived within two blocks of his parents, his eldest sister and her family were across the street from them – two houses down and around the corner was another sister and her family – four houses down from us was a cousin and her family – and about dead middle between parents and us were his father’s sister and brother and their families. Two other sisters still lived with the parents – one with her child. So – while the 27 yr old was an only child – she had fourteen cousins within two blocks and dinner at our house (as I was considered the better cook of the family) was usually a case of “Okay, X is what is for dinner. If you want to eat, start washing up and setting the table. If you don’t like it, go home.”

In any event – it was a good way for the daughter to grow up, and it was a wonderful way to have community and family. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

    Kess
