Oops.

I meant to take tomorrow off. I seem to have taken today off instead.

Partly this was due to going to bed too late and consequently getting up too late. Then Ted’s memory arrived and he put his old memory into my computer, so I had to spend an hour and a half playing CoH to see if having 3x as much memory helped my zoning problem (it did; oh, how it did). Then I just plain didn’t feel very good, so I took my rather pathetic self downstairs and got something to eat and curled up on the couch with ‘s THE BROKEN CROWN until Ted announced he was going into Cork, and I decided I’d better go with him or I would be an increasingly miserable slug all day. And now it’s 5:30 and I won’t start writing this late, ’cause I rarely do.

But going into Cork was nice! I got more (very expensive, jesus) conditioner to help this ongoing attempt to bring my hair back from the brink of doom (the ends, for those of you who care (that would be, uh, , right?) are pretty thrashed, but I’m not getting it cut for a minimum of 3 more weeks, as it’s now been 3 since I had the color fixed and I set a minimum of 6 weeks before I did *anything* to it. I really can’t tell if the expensive shampoos and conditioner are improving its quality or not, but they do smell nice.), and picked up BLACK POWDER WAR, which I may very well read tonight. We also got cat food, which was the stated purpose for going into Cork in the first place. Sadly, Ted also got a headache. :(

Wow, my editor has PHOENIX line edits done already. Lucky for me they’re not due back until the endish of July. I hope when COYOTE revisions come through they’re also not due for a while. Must get HoC written.

Speaking of which, having not written today means tomorrow and Friday must be very efficient, especially as it seems my sister and her fambly are coming down on the weekend. Tomorrow, Friday, and Saturday morning, then, since I figure they won’t be here til afternoon. So 2.5 days of Working Hard is on the menu.

  1. I care! But then, I am a longhair geek. :)

Also! Other than the Kashi Go Lean, what mostly non-perishable staples of U.S. supermarkets are you desperately craving? Let me know please! :)

  2. I was actually thinking of you last night when I bleached my hair, as parts of it turned an odd greyish-white, which made me think, “Hm, I wonder if I’d get actual white if I bleached a second time?” o.O

When my hair is thrashed, I use Neutrogena Triple Moisture Daily Deep Conditioner for a few days, which really seems to help; last night’s toner was new stuff that I’ve decided I really don’t like, and I was a bit worried about my hair, but it’s bounced right back after application of the above. I could try to find a bottle of it to include with LA’s box (which will also include your birthday present, late again), if you like!

Ooh, they also do a recovery hair mask that might do even better things. So let me know; it’ll be a little bit of extra birthdayness, or something!

Hm, I need a Hair icon other than Tonks. I wonder if I could do an animated thingie that flashes through my own myriad hair colors?

  3. Oh, lord. I would do embarrassing things for a small jar of Farman’s cucumber chip pickles, but of a more practical and less shatterable note, er, Flintstone vitamins. :) Or Scooby Doo, but you know the type.

  4. Oh, lord. I would do embarrassing things for a small jar of Farman’s cucumber chip pickles

Is this an Alaska brand? Perhaps I can conspire with to grab a jar while she is in Anchorage and bring it down to California so it can be sent to you. :>

but of a more practical and less shatterable note, er, Flintstone vitamins. :) Or Scooby Doo, but you know the type.

    I do!

Anything else? C’mon, otherwise you may wind up with some weirdo things. :) I’m considering Weight Watchers brand snack cakes and No Pudge brownie mix.

  5. Deen would be able to find some. It’s not an Alaskan brand, but I’m not sure how widely it’s carried. Fred Meyers has ’em, I /think/ Safeway carries ’em but I’m not sure… Anyway, Farman’s are the only people who make cucumber chips right. :)

I’m considering Weight Watchers brand snack cakes and No Pudge brownie mix.

Actually, they have *zillions* of WW things over here. It’s really odd! Snack cakes and frozen dinners and cereals and … all *sorts* of things. So that particular thing I’m not shy on. Um.

The problem is that the things I use are v. heavy and I hate to think of people shipping them. The baking fat they have here is just Not Right, so I have an ongoing need for small tubs (because the big ones just weigh too much) of original Crisco. Um. Also, mapleline flavoring (which is more concentrated than maple flavoring, though that will also do) can’t be found here. Mom claims there’s corn meal to be found here, but I haven’t found any yet. Um. The other thing I’d kill for is Henry Weinhart’s root beer, but again with the heavy and the fragile.

  6. I started up again a week or so ago. I’m not much of a power player, so I’ve only got low-level characters, but I’ve got ’em on all the servers, pretty much. Anywhere/time you play in particular (I said, assuming this meant you played)?

  7. Couldn’t hurt. My conditoner seems to be similar to that stuff, but it’s not a Deep Recovery Mask. :) My hair’s not doing too badly, all things considered, but I think I might get three or five inches chopped off at the end of 6 weeks.

    Or I might not.

    Hair is hard. O.O

  8. Mostly on Pinnacle, which is where a lot of the are concentrated. I’ve been idle lately, waiting for them to sort out some of the bugs that I7 introduced. One level 41 and a smattering of low-level guys. My global ID is @Jack Diamond.

  9. I am now arme’d with knowledge, and something shall be done. :)

    *wanders off to plotz*

  10. Mmmm . . . I can never remember if you’re exactly six months /older/ than I am, or six months /younger/. I always vote for younger.

    Incorrectly, it now appears. *wink*

  11. *laugh* Yes. I am your elder. Respect me as is my due. :) (I can never remember either. :))

  12. I’ve got a handful of new characters on Pinnacle right now, in fact. 5th-ish level. I’m @mizkit. I’ll look for you. :)

  13. There’s a shop in Dublin that sells lots of USian stuff, like Bisquick and so forth. I’m sure it has Crisco. I think by name it’s actually a cheese shop … seems to be The Big Cheese Co., Trinity St. (off Dame St).

  14. Warning: haven’t been it in it in about a year so things could have changed. I suppose it’s a deli really, with heavy emphasis on cheese, and for some reason has American stuff too (where most delis here have lots of Italian imported stuff). I remember thinking “well I know where to send anyone who wants to buy matzo”.
