Argh.

Reluctant to write this morning. Know perfectly well my reluctance is because I don’t feel like the ending is integrating with the rest of the book. Spent half an hour faffing around, looking at email, Twitter, FB, LJ, then chatted with Soula in the war room, where I admitted to knowing what was wrong, how to fix it, and not wanting to, because I just want to get the damned draft finished. “Can you pretend it integrates?” she asked, but no, I can’t, never have really been able to do…

solar-powered

Evidently I’m solar-powered. I did another 5300 words today, bringing the book up to 81K. I think it may come in a little short, but if I can get it somewhere between 95-100K I’ll be happy. The rest can be dealt with in revisions. We are on day 10 of no sweets. I would do rash things for some ice cream. I said as much to Ted, who promptly volunteered to go get some, so he seems to be feeling the same way. But we remained strong, and now the…

go me.

Apparently I ate my Wheaties this morning or something, because I had 3K written by noon and finished the day with 5200 words. Furthermore, thanks to that one chapter mostly requiring revision rather than writing, the book, which was at 67K last night, is now at 76K. Then I went out into the…well, not sunshine, really, but at least daylight, and finished…

at a quarter to ten

At a quarter to ten, to ten, today, at a quarter to ten today, the dragon will come at the beat of the drum at a quarter to ten today. I had every intention of going back to sleep this morning, but a couple of scene ideas dropped into my head, and I decided I’d better get up and write them before I lost them, since they were of significant use in developing the last third of this book. So by 10 after 8 I had 750 fresh new words…

bitty wee accomplishments

I got the cover copy feedback sent. I got the chapter written. I did not get the kettle cleaned, but I COULD STILL DO IT. Ted, in the meantime, has been Mr. Accomplishful and cleaned the upstairs of the house nigh unto unrecognizability, and has tidied up the back patio into a place people might want to spend time on. Now we need a barbeque and some chairs comfortable enough to sit on out there, which is always a problem: I find chairs comfy enough to sit on are rarely…
