I’m guest blogging over at Temple Library Reviews about some of the differences between writing comics and novels. Thanks very much to Harry for inviting me to come play at his review site! As reminded by several persons, THE PRETENDER’S CROWN has been nominated for the 2009 David Gemmell LEGEND Award for Fantasy. It’s on the long list, which is incredibly flattering, and it would be even more flattering to make it to the short list. My understanding is that voting between now and March will winnow the list down,…
Cranky Girl Geek Is Cranky
So I occasionally buy things through Sideshow Collectibles, and I’m subscribed to their newsletter so I don’t miss any information about upcoming Rogue figurines. Today I got the newsletter and it had a “go vote for the Avatar character you’d like to see as a maquette!” poll, and so, gleeful, I went to vote for Neytiri, because I’d buy a Neytiri maquette in a red hot minute. Only she’s not an option. Norm the dork is, and Colonel Dickhead is, and the only reason I can think is because, hey,…

Blog posts done. A lousy 2K written, which means without working on Saturday there’s no chance of hitting 50K this week. But at least I got 2K, which is largely thanks to Kate and to Laura Anne, who logged in to look stern at me. 4 chapters copyedited, so I’m picking up a little speed there. That is all. motivation, i has lost it
Apparently the difference between coming straight home after going to the gym and running errands before coming home is a huge whacking loss of motivation for getting my ass into the chair and writing. Actually, my ass is in the chair, it’s just that I’m not writing. I’m pretty sure it’s not that the book’s screwed up (other than being fairly certain I need to cut 10K from the 42K I have written), and is just plain ol’ don-wanna. So I’m procrastinating in a variety of ways, many of which…

I got another Pilates book today. Like nearly every book I’ve seen, the first exercises are just Too Goddamned Hard if you’re a Pilates novice, and there are no suggestions on how to work up to them. The only place I’ve found a beginner’s workout suitable to an actual beginner is on the Weight Watchers site, where I actually think it’s worth signing up for their two-week free trial thing to get access to the workout, if you’re interested in a ground-level start point. (I know I said a long…
