Last night one of the women at dance class told me, and heartily agreed, that I looked like I wasn’t getting any exercise. *laugh* They’re right. I don’t. :) I mean, I’m breaking a sweat in class and all, but I’m not turning red or having sweat fly off me in big fat drops, which is what I’d expect from a class that really worked me. I admitted that this was not nearly as vigorous a class as I’m used to, and the woman said I must exercise a lot.…
drum circle
I asked the yoga teacher yesterday if she knew if there were any drum circles or anything in Cork that I could look up. She did, but she looked very surprised that I asked. I don’t think I look like the sort of person who would ask about a drum circle. Actually, I’m quite sure I don’t. Sometimes this is a matter of consternation to me. I feel as though I ought to look more unconventional. Unfortunately, I can’t get past feeling either silly or aware that most of the…
daily life
Today’s been one of those days that feels simultaneously very busy and not at all productive. I’ve done a lot of laundry. I made dinner. I placed a grocery order. I left the house for a bit. Went downtown and bought a rather spiffy hardback blank book and two reasonably decent pens, and came home again to begin writing. I am going to write as much of this book as is necessary by hand, because I don’t seem to be able to sit down at the computer and not try to work in…
packaging
Since moving to Ireland and beginning recycling, which is What’s Done Here, Ted and I have discovered that we produce very little *garbage*. Once we get a composter going, we’ll produce almost *no* garbage. What we do produce, or have a lot of, is *packaging*. Most (all) of that’s recycleable, but it’s been starting to get on my nerves. It seems so incredibly, incredibly wasteful, and so I’ve been finding myself trying to think of ways I can cut down on packaging. There are some things that could be pretty…
