Picoreview: Bumblebee

Picoreview: Bumblebee – this is a great Girl And Her Horse movie. I loved Bumblebee when I first saw it in the theatre, except the night we went, so did about 15 incredibly obnoxious teenagers who obviously didn’t really want to be there and who were unbelievably loud and rude and giggly and stupid through the first half of the film, after which they either left or were kicked out, I can’t remember. So mostly I didn’t hear any of the first half and really liked the second half, and…

Picoreview: Mrs Harris Goes to Paris

Picoreview: Mrs Harris Goes to Paris – a delight! I very much wanted to see this in the theatre and for whatever reason failed to, so when I had the TV to myself and discovered it on Netflix a couple nights ago, for once in my life I didn’t spend 45 minutes trying to decide what to watch and finally decide to watch nothing, but just watched it. :) It really is a delight. Charming, sweet, soft, occasionally heartbreaking, and funny. The lead, Lesley Manville, is one of those actors…

Picoreview: Deadpool & Wolverine

Picoreview: Deadpool & Wolverine – did EXACTLY what it said on the tin, which was EVERYTHING I WANTED I generally try to keep my picoreviews spoiler-free, but I’m mentioning that specifically on this post because it’s still a relatively new movie and if you want to veer away entirely, you should, but I won’t be spoiling anything. Picoreview: Furiosa

Picoreview: Furiosa: boring :( I had heard enormously mixed reviews from friends, and…do you ever feel like sometimes other people have somehow seen a completely different movie or TV show than the one you’ve seen? I’ve taken to saying “I wish I’d seen the cut THEY saw,” which is how I feel about the positive reviews of Furiosa. I’m very glad people enjoyed it, I just don’t understand how. :) Everyone in it was good. Chris Hemsworth’s fake nose was actively not good, but despite that, he was very good.…

Picoreview: What Happens Later

Picoreview: What Happens Later – not what I was expecting. editor’s note: I saw this last Decemberish, and while writing up another picoreview realized I hadn’t posted my picoreview of it here, so I’m doing that now, as if it was a new watch. :) ~~~~ I only heard about this a few days ago: on the surface, it appeared to be a Meg Ryan romcom with David Duchovny as the leading man, which, well: I figured it was either going to be quite wonderful or quite terrible. It was…
