At least, a theoretical end to the media blackout. I should probably carry on with it to a fair degree, because it was pretty successful. I think I got around 40K written in September, maybe as much as 50, including all the synopsizing and stuff I did for the epic proposal. It made a dent, anyway, in my to-do list, and I’m considerably less freaked out than I was at the beginning of September. The epic proposal isn’t quite done, although that had been my hope. The bulk of the…

media blackout
I am…desperately behind on writing. This summer–since mid-April–has been…very bad, for writing, and the two projects I hoped to have completed by now are…not. :/ Which means that with 4 months left in the year I also have 4 major projects I want finished or significantly dented, which is…unlikely. I mean, like two of those books are half-written; two are not written at all. I also have three short stories and some copy edits to do, the sooner the better. I am therefore declaring a media blackout in September. Unless…

improbable goals
It’s not actually a new month quite yet, but it’s Monday and tomorrow starts a new month so I’m calling it close enough. I have a bunch of improbable goals this month. I have to get farther ahead on MAGIC & MANNERS, which is now approaching 40,000 words, actually, which is great. I’ve been obliged to actually buy a copy of P&P so I don’t have to keep squinting at my phone to read its text while I’m working at the cinema cafe. (Tangentially, I think Kobo’s computer interface is…
so. tired.
I went out for tapas with YA author Sarah Rees Brennan last night, which was enormously fun. Hanging out with Sarah usually is. She tells stories exactly the same way she writes in her blog, and it’s very very funny, even when she’s talking about awful things. Or possibly especially when she’s talking about awful things. :) Anyway, we ordered one of everything on the menu (not really, but only because after we’d ordered six items the waiter said, “That’s enough, ladies. That’s a lot of food,” to which we…
