much better, thank you
I am, for all of you who have asked, much better today, thank you. Muuuuuuuuuuch better.
Apparently I alarmed my poor husband, because he did come home to get Indy from school, and when he arrived home I was sleeping on the couch and he couldn’t remember the last time I was sick enough to give up trying to push through and just went to sleep on the couch. Evidently he went back to work and told people I’d been sleeping on the couch and they said “so?” and he was like, “no, you don’t understand. catie NEVER. DOES THAT.”
He told me this evening that if I’d said this morning he needed to stay home to bring Indy to school, he would have done that, and then he would have brought me to the doctor. I said I’d have waited until Thursday to go to the doctor myself, but it seems me sleeping on the couch for five hours of the day is Very Alarming Behaviour and Ted was having None Of It.
Anyway, although I was skeptical about sleeping after resting on the couch so much, I went to bed before 9pm and slept 10 hours with a brief wake-up at 1 to use the bathroom; I’d drunk a 750ml Lucozade (Gatorade, basically) during the day, which caused Indy to say, thoughtfully, “You’ll have to pee a lot tonight.” *laughs* I also thought, at that time, “Thank God for Night Nurse,” which is the Irish equivalent of NyQuil only it still has an active ingredient in it and is therefore worth taking, and then I went right back to sleep. And I was about 90% better this morning one way or another, and I’m still coughing but am otherwise pretty good this evening, so he didn’t have to bring me to the doctor.
Poor Indy has the cold now, though. :/
i has a sick.
I’ve had a cold sneaking up on me the past couple days, but today it decided to land with both feet. I feel tired and faintly ill if I’m holding still, but if I move at all I cough. Climbing the stairs requires a ten minute sit-down to recover.
I’ve spent a lot of time lying on the couch today. :} I was so wrecked from bringing Indy to school that I asked Ted to come home from work long enough to *get* him from school. And that was after we deliberately left early because I knew I wasn’t going to be able to walk at a normal pace. This is a no fun sick! Not that any sickness is much fun.
Anyway, yesterday I did a good job on the final pass of MAGIC & MANNERS revisions, and I thought I’d be finishing them today, but instead I’ve been lying on the couch.
Hopefully tomorrow will be be better.
Poor Ted tried to go to work this morning.
“I can do this!” he thought as he took his shower.
“I can do this!” he thought as he got in the car.
“I can do this!” he thought as he drove past the exit to the doctor’s clinic.
“I…can’t do this,” he thought when he reached his exit for work, and took the roundabout back around to the clinic, where the doctor told him he had a mild chest infection and gave him a doctor’s note to stay home from work and a prescription for antibiotics and cough medicine.
He’s now in bed, poor guy. I sent him there with a copy of Harry Connolly‘s new book, THE WAY INTO CHAOS, saying, “This is what *I* recommend!” He said, “Have you read it?” and I proudly presented him with the book to look at the cover quote, which he did and then looked at me in confusion. I said, “Read the cover quote!”
He said, “I did. It’s from Kat Richardson.”
Oh. Well. I’d given him the 3rd book, not the first, because I’d accidentally shelved them out of order. I tried again and he read my cover quote, but the impact of the moment was lost. And then he went to bed with the book. :)
I think I may be finally properly recovered today myself, as my own appetite is finally returning. I was actually okay with it being significantly depressed, and wouldn’t mind if it stayed that way. Although, boy, cooking isn’t my favourite thing to do anyway but when I have no appetite I’m like FOOD IT IS BORING AND SUCKS AND WHY DO WE EVEN HAVE TO DEAL WITH THIS NONSENSE OMG #FLAIL
Anyway, aside from that, Young Indiana also seems to be significantly improved, although 4am wakeup shenanigans meant no school again today. This has not been exactly the most “swoop into a schedule” January of all times. :)
