To be or not to be morally superior, that is the question. Whether it is nobler to write another 9 pages or so and hit the 1/3rd mark, or to stop now when my wordcount is an exact and therefore amusing-to-me 5K. Nothing wrong with stopping now, and if I do, there’s plenty of time to shower and go into Cork to buy some fresh froot this afternoon. Nothing wrong with not stopping now, either, though I really do want that shower, and frequently showering interrupts the writing flow in some fashion that makes me not want to bother anymore when I’m all clean.
Maybe I’ll shower and work on Chance later. That sounds like a good plan!
miles to Isengard: 152.5
ytd wordcount: 205,100
I am sorry, but I must ask: What is with the Miles to Isengarde, thing? Heh
It’s a walking challenge started a few years ago by a bunch of LotR fans. There’s lots of information about it here, but basically it started out as a challenge to walk 458 miles, the distance between Bag End and Rivendell. I did that and then did the rest of the walk to Mount Doom, and finished that a couple months ago. So I rebooted back to the first point in the journey where people started going different directions, and now I’m doing the 355 miles between Rauros Falls and Isengard, on the path that Merry and Pippin took, and when I’m done with that, I’ll go from Isengard to Minas Tirith with Gandolf and Pippin. :)
Oh, that is so cool! Heh, I just found out tonight that I have lost 10 pounds in the last 15 days! Of course, I have gone from a no activity level job where I snacked ALL day long to a 99% activity level job and barely time enough not to starve, which explains a lot. I might really look into this. Thank you! (I am also going to start walking to and from work once we get settled in the new house, so…)
Wow, congratulations on the weight loss! That’s fantastic! Yay for a new job! :)
I’ve really enjoyed the whole Walk to Rivendell thing. For some reason it’s worked for me mentally, so I’ve kept it up. I happened on it right at the same time I’d independently decided I needed to walk more, so it was a happy meeting of events. I’ve walked…wow, 1931.5 miles that I’ve clocked! Almost 2000! I’ll have to remember to do a happy dance when I reach 2000! :)
That’s really cool actually.
Life is manuscript…
A co-worker went and bought a pedometer
to count how many steps he takes in a given day. That was a few months ago and I don’t know what his average is but I think the original poster was talking about walking her character “Everquest?” in terms of game miles. Since I’m new here, I don’t exactly know what’s going on.
you can get a pedometer for something like $20 bucks. Clip it onto your belt or around your neck and every time it clicks when you take a step it records it. One step one click. I’ve been meaning to get one but I don’t do much walking these days.

I’ve deliberately opted not to count around-the-house sorts of walking as part of my mileage, so I just use the LotR thing to make me do Purposeful Walks. :)
